Big Bore Installation Price?

How much does it cost to have a muzzy 1270 kit installed? What about installation of a 1361 stroker kit,how much to get it installed? Also how long does it take and what kind of quarter mile times are average with each?

Excluding the parts I paid about $950 for my 1270 kit to be installed and I believe I paid about $1400 for the 1361 installation. The parts you can look up on the Muzzy site. There are some gaskets and seals that don't come with the Muzzy kit. So you should budget a couple hundred or so more for those parts especially if you go with the Stroker.

As far as 1/4 mile times I have to tell you that the quarter mile is more skill them motor. Certainly the guys that are good at the drags can use the extra ponies. But the average guy just gets to pull longer wheelies.

Roll ons, top end speeds, etc. is extremely nice with both mods. I prefer the 1361 over the 1270. It fits my riding style. The 1270 improves the mid range and rips on the top, the Stroker rips in the middle and puts you in the situation of running out of road bfore it gets opened up. If you know what I mean.

I am certain some of the drag guys can address your 1/4 mile time question better.

ZH,
That was helpful info about the 2 big bores . How much Hp difference did you find between the two kits?

The 1270 kits I have seen on the dyno have varied from 189 to about 196. My 1270 put out 193. My 1361 puts out 209. That is SAE hp. Standard the 1361 puts out about 214. HP figures will vary from dyno to dyno.

There was or is about 10 ftlbs if I remeber the torque numbers corectly. The stroker makes a 116 ftpnds at about 7600 rpms. And it makes a 100 ftpnds at or near 4800 rpm. The torque of the stroker is very impressive.

Mega,
My experience w/1361 install cost is just like ZH's, $1400-ish + a few hundred for odds n' ends. Make sure you add the adj cam sprockets and have your cams carefully set up (105/100 was used for me).

As far as 1/4 improvement? I added a 6" ext arm at the same time as the 1361 and gained .500 sec (9.63 down to 9.12) after about 30 passes to get used to the new set up. I'm a fat guy (230 suited) and other, more svelte guys like Krexxen, have dipped into the hi 8's w/ 1361.

Good luck

1361 kit reliability

How many trouble free miles cann I expect from the 1270or 1361? I have two motors but i want to keep one stock. I want to dragrace also but Iv'e got only one bike. I dont want to put something in there that will limit reliability. Lees performance is close to me so I guess I'll have them do the 1361. THANKS for the info guys, this site really helps you make a good choice.

So far for Swft and I the 1270 and 1361 (1347 for Swft) have been trouble free and reliable for many miles. Swft's 1270 came apart with about 10,000 miles on it. But that was kind of unique. It came apart on the race track, a trak with a 3/4 straightaway, as well as a 1/2 mile and 1/8 mile straigh away as well. A very high speed track with very high speed extreme lean angle turns. Add to that that Swft let a very very very fast and accomplished guy go out on it and thrash the 1270 to death as well resulted in oild starvation. The oil starvation was / is acharacteristic of the 12 engine design and had little if anything to do with the 1270 kit in my opinion.

My decission for buying a 12 was based on it's ability to be tweaked to the 1270 and or 1361 configuration pretty enexpensively and the engines have proven to be very reliable. Swfts 1270 and 1347 bikes have been commuter everyday bikes. I would not worry or fear either set up.
