SWFT? GOZR?

What's the scoop on the 7R swingarm? Pics? Necessary mods for the brake caliper? Same measurements at the pivot? Same shock angle? Did ya'll use the 12R suspension parts?

I gotta know!

It's in the other post somewhere. Gozr was sposed to get some pics up. Both pivots measure 257mm, and use the same bearings. Brake caliper mounts the same on both swingarms. So, it should be a bolt on kinda thing. Wintertime project for me. Gozr?

GOZR said that some kinda mod had to made for using the 12R caliper bracket. You think I'd still need to replace the 7R swingarm's pivot and "suspension mounting point" bearings, even if they are low mileage and move freely?

If it's truely just a "plug 'n play" kinda thang, I'm goin' shoppin' for a 7R (P series) swingarm tomorrow.

With a 30 mm shorter swingarm you think wheelies will be a tad bit more frequent do you?!! Should be a kick in the butt!!

1996-2003 is the P series. '96 was a ZX-7R P1. I had a '97 P2.

Just to make it PERFECTLY CLEAR to an idiot like myself you are saying...

1. The 7R (P series) swingarm bolts up with no need modifications
2. The 12R shock and suspension components bolt right onto the 7R swingarm
3. The 12R brake caliper and bracket slide right onto the 7R swingarm tab
4. There is little to no difference in putting a 7R swingarm on a 12R, then putting another OEM 12R swingarm on the same bike (except for the 30mm difference in length)

Right?

EGADS, MAN! Do you realize what you have done? You have discovered what could possibly be the most trick "suspension mod" in the history of the 12R! Of course, you might have also discovered how to ruin a perfectly good "set-up" (which I doubt).

No, what I'm saying is that my $30 '96 7R swingarm measured out the same as the 12R swingarm, and that I didn't have a chance to measure both swingarms off the bike. I'm also saying that if you check www.buykawasaki.com, the outer bearings are the same, which definately proves that the pivot bolts are the same diameter. With that in mind, I don't see any reason why you could not shim as necessary and stick the 12R pivot through the 7R swingarm. The brake caliper mounting position is the same on both swingarms. If the 7R caliper mounting plate was near the same as the 12R, the 12R caliper should slide over it.

So with that said Swft..... Are you really saying that the 7R swing arm is a direct replacement for the stock swing arm?
