just checked clutch

well no cracks in basket. stack was 56.84 back plate to front plate in basket 2 springs on.
looks like i need to add some hight to it for this year.
going to also machine the basket notches a little bit more. clutch was on the dry side yet. this time i am going to not do it free hand. got someone i fly with has nice equipment.

with my digital calipers on the footpeg side of the basket say 8 ocolck i can get the point in the back and then on the outside. then figure out how much material is on the plate back half and front half and add that also. now i am at 56.8xxx before you take the half of the friction so in retrospeck i am good.
thanks for asking it has been a while since i did this and forgot the caliper is going to miss the friction material thickness on half of each end plate.
i just got sick of doing every friction plate 3 times and averaging it when i really wanted to know the compressed hight anyway.
stuart can you call me sometime to talk about your bike as it was with the lockup i got from you to go in my short bike. 717-383-7354

i used to measure them all too, then i switched to just measuring the whole stack. grab it in one hand, give it a squeeze and put the calipers on it. now i just check the clearance with the lock up arms to the pressure plate. soo simple. you dont even need to know stack height with a lock up, you know exactly how much to add or take away by checking the clearance with feeler gauges. you dont even need to pull anything except the cover to check that all is well

you should get a set of the light duty double stack springs from mtc. way nicer to work with(that reminds me i gotta measure one for Keith...) i forget exactly how Nox put it, but they react to shims more linearly i believe. plus they are short, so taking the snowflake of is much nicer

Aaaah, I always thought about doing it that way ,but didn`t think I could reach the back good enough....I measure the way Scott does it....Just squeeze the all together....
Glad you got the lockup...Hope you`re getting good use out of it,(maximum use)....Looks like the MTC light springs are the way to go .....Get a set, and a set of alum. bolts while your there.....Cool, thanks for the #, I`ll give ya a call.....
