Quick Run Down. This was posted by some svt tech in Texas on one of their boards YESTERDAY.
quote: Originally posted by stangman96 at mustangworks.com
MAN IT WAS WAY COOL, DROVE A '03 COBRA VERT TODAY THAT WAS IN THE SHOP, ME AND ANOTHER TECH TOOK IT OUT AND DROVE IT, DROVE HER HARD, 6 SPEED TRANNY, WE HIT 140 MPH REAL QUICK, TALK ABOUT POWER. NOT THAT WE DO IT HERE ALL THE TIME, BUT I JUST HAD TO RUN IT, IT WAS CALLING MY NAME... THE POWER IT HAS IN UNREAL, YOU JUST NEED TO GET OUT AND TEST DRIVE ONE TODAY, BY THE WAY, THE CUSTOMER'S COMPLAINT WAS LACK OF POWER AND POOR GAS MILEAGE, WHAT A CROCK... NEEDLESS TO SAY, IT IS OWNED BY A FEMALE, SHE EVEN SAID IT WAS DYNOED AT A SHOP AND THEY TOLD HER THAT THE CONVERTORS WERE TOO HOT AND THE FUEL TRIM WAS WAY OFF. I HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER, FUEL TRIM WAS NORMAL, CAT TEMP WAS OK, NO CODES, AND IT RAN GREAT. GO FIGURE.. OH YEAH, SHE EVEN TOLD THE SERVICE WRITER TO MAKE SURE THAT NO "PUNK" DRIVES HER CAR, WELL SINCE I AM THE MUSTANG SPECIALIST HERE AT THE DEALER, I GUESS I AM "THE PUNK", ALL THE MORE TO DRIVE HER '03 COBRA VERT AND SEE WHAT ITS GOT.. HEHE HOPE SHE DIDNT HAVE A HIDDEN CAMERA IN THAT CAR...... GET THIS, HER PLATES SAY "XXX XX" [/qoute]

Needless to say.... SHE found the post with her car and her plate number on it and is furious. I think the view count is well over 50000 since it was posted yesterday and it is about 11 pages long with support from all over. Just funny to read if you can get in.

So far all I can find is the dealer fired the tech, but didn't offer her any compensation/apology's for the wear/tear on her car.

My question is this: Why did he only go 140 MPH?
I mean, really, you got the cobra, might as well push the limit.
Redline that bitch.

Yeah, if you are running the risk of getting fired might as well push it hard and make it worthwhile.

It really seems like this is out of proportion here. I understand that I would be very upset if it happened to me but... I don't think that I would be supprised. I can't believe all of the webys that are saying "I can't believe this", I definitely can believe it. If it happened to my bike I would probably seek a new set of tires and a warranty clutch (since we all know that those hold up to abuse so well!!) But really 140 mph (or 160) isn't hurting anything.
I really think that this is just a show of how much untrust/animosity DEALERSHIPS have created in their own customer base, in all makes. Might be a wake up call for all manufacturers, NOBODY likes their dealer!!! Do something about it.
Just my 2 cents.

presentation is the key
if i said: hey i got to test drive ______ car tday, was in for service.
finished up and took it to test my repairs.
was nice and sweet to 140, great ride.
or
This dumb broad brought this ______ in, i drove it like it was meant to be driven, not the pansy-grandma style she prolly drives it. prolly first and last time it ever went over 140, i thrashed this car woohoo
which would you be offended by? which one shows a modicum of maturity and thoguht?
might be upset by both, but 1st is more likely not gonna get the red mists and guns out.....
the other difference is this: if i let a friend drive my truck or ride my bike, it is because i trust them, and their skills and MATURITY with the controls. if greenglenn takes my bike for a spin and redlines it and beats holyhell out of it pegs speedo and all that, i dont care, because i TRUST his ability and sense.
some 18yr old punk at the dealer though, one i dont know, does same thing, and you KNOW in middle of town, well that is unacceptable. perhaps i am being a hypocrite, but i don't know that tech from adam. it is not cool for a stranger to work my bike or truck over like that and not expect fallout from it. because you know if that guy had wadded her car up she would have gotten the bone job in the deal. either negligable compensation, or having to pay lawyer big time to get anything out of it. either way the customer loses....
whether it is surprising or not, well; i have limited experience with dealer repairs so don't know.
anyway gotta get back to work

Heh, I got you fooled.
Anyway, the woman brought the car in complaining of LOW power. You can only check so much with onboard diagnostics. Yer gonna have to stomp on the gofast pedal to check it out. Granted, he was stupid about it (140), but a slight thrashing was in order.

yeh, and way stupid to post about it..with license plates....
but the issue is not that he did it, but that he felt it was his God given right to do so because she wasn't or some gay excuse.
140 on city roads is moronic....
you can check power easily in 1st or 2nd gear.... ;P
