jamming, what year is your goldwing? do you ever ride iot other than long trips? I've been contemplating one or a full touring BMW bike, but I wouldn't tell anyone on this board my thoughts thanks

i'm going to a conce3rt in Iowa and have a hookup on cheap gold wings in chatanooga tn. instead of flying to iowa, thinking fly in and pic up a gold wing and ride that bigh to iowa, then back through the mountains, then back to FL

what scares me is I'm afraid it'd sit in the garage forever after that

My goldwing is a 05, I wouldn't trade it for three BMW's, no offense i just love it ! Its one bike that is a heavy weight, But handles very well and you just have to ride one to see my point. Granted its no ZX14, But i have left a few sqids wondering what the hell was that. It handles much better than most people think. I rode several touring bikes, Including a BMW 1200k i think it was, But the Goldwing has the best wind protection, Better storage and 1800cc of power. I am only 5' 4" and 140lbs and have no problem riding on busy city streets and two up. My wife has fallen to sleep riding on the bike. Its very forgiving and reliable. Ride them all, then ride a 1800 wing, You might change your mind. Believe it or not its as fun in the canyon as my 14. Just a little slower. Shifting is almost a option.

I hate that they suck.....that they never tried to compete....that they FORCED us to buy outside of the US.

How I would LOVE to ride a red, white and blue sportsbike..........

My 14 was made in Michigan. Harley has tons of jap parts on it so you wouldn't be riding anything that is American only.

...I read an article about a custom late-model GW a few years ago in one of the moto rags....it had a chopped windscreen, sans the lower front and side fairings, and I think a chopped rear trunk...it was badass...I think it was in one of CW's "American Flyers" section...smokey color and badass...I think the sporty in you would've appreciated it if you saw it...

From what I have heard from riders of the big GW'S is that they are really top heavy, bad balance, but when up to speed it is a dream bike for the long hauls. I know every time I see one go by all I hear is the tires on the road or the radio....

A GW was supposed to be my next bike, but the concours just erased my memory...

California dealership's pre-orders will be available now through December 15th. The bike, listed with an MSRP of $11,179, 90 horsepower, air-cooled V-twin, beefy brakes, and a dry weight of 551 lbs. A total of 750 bikes (in homage to the famed XR750) should be available, with more on tap if demand is strong enough.

That power to weight ratio makes it about as fast or slower than a Ninja 500.

Dam HD sport sure did get tossed around hear looks like it was a fail effort no big surprise there. With the HP to weight ratio doubt if they will sell or have a demand even at that price. Hope Buell keeps making progress in this tough sport bike market.

You have heard wrong, There not top heavy at all. Maybe the 1500 was, but not the 1800, Look under goldwing at deals gap and watch video. They handle quit well for a 800lb bike.

Thanks ! Sorry ! Just relized a jacking, Back to the Harley, Went to a abate club swap and shop. Man i was out of place, Hells angels, banditos, And others everywhere, Never in my life did i think i would see a headlight bezel sell for $300, What a joke. But did find a nice pair of road boots for cheap. Not to many sportbike items flying out the door at this event. Took my camera, But no pictures allowed. The local Harley shop was there, selling 8 year old tires. When i showed the guy how to read the tire date he got pissy, But hey it was fun.

Hows the weather up there jamming?? take it you finally got dug outta the snow. hahaha explain again why you moved to the most snowed upon town in the country...

I like the xr1200. Matter of fact, if they come out with one with at least 120hp I'll buy one for my next bike! Seriously, I think it would be a cool addition to my ever growing vehicle fleet. A good handling harley, who woulda thought? I just need about 40hp more so that it can carry my big heavy ass up the mountain pass - would be SOO embarrassing to have to install pedals like those old Honda mopeds had.
