Still No fire

I jumped my bike off of a car to get it started. I did it with out issue. Rode around the block no issue. Killed the bike and it would not start. So I tried to start it one more time and now no fire! So I put a new battery in it and no fire. The starter turns fast and the fuel rail feels with fuel. But no fire. So I went through all fuses and connectors every thing was in order. I had a bike veteran take a look at it and he said "everything seems to be in order but it still will not fire." He suggest that the plugs could have gone and that would be the reason it will not fire. What do you guys think. It's a 2000 ZX12 A-1

I do have a PCIII it came with the bike and it was never connected. I got the bike salvage so I have no idea about it's past. The pcIII usb and Yosh pipe came in the deal .

I've been through all of the fuses and all of them seem to be ok. Even the one on the battery basket as well as the junction also on the moduels beside the junction box. All clear and connected. My more seasoned friend thinks the plugs are foweled but to me that seems to simple. I was also wondering would it show some sign of a spark even with foweled plugs? However he is a vet and I'm a newb so I was thinking of starting there. Seeing as though I don't know my ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to the bike.

I was just wondering with very limited funds before I drop the cash on plugs (good investment anyway) Should I start there? Or do you guys have a suggestion?

Well at least pull one plug wire and see if you have spark at least....

there should be a gray wire leading off the key switch. if so, there is ONLY 6 V on this wire. if that wire breaks off or the 100 ohm resistor in the switch dies, you'll be left with no spark.. now, i'm not garunteeing that ont the 12 as i'm not familiar with it, but it IS a VERY common kawi move ( that gray wire and 6V feed) and i've noted several times where that was a problem on both my bike on on my customers machines.

always work a look-see

once a 12 is fouled, its pretty much impossible to start unless you dry the plugs out. trust me, ive been there. what i suggest(easiest way) is to pull the outside plugs. the middle 2 are a bit more challenging for a beginner. with the key OFF and the throttle wide open. put 12v to the starter to spin the motor over. theres a place under the battery cover to get at the starter cable. spin the bike over for 10 sec, let the starter cool off for a min, repat a few times. let it sit for an hr or so. put plugs back in, try to start it like you normally do. it will probly run on 2 cylinders untill it warms up and clears out, then the middle 2 will start firing and it will run. that is if the only problem was that it was flooded.

one thing that will make it way easier is the factory tool. that plug wrench pivots in the middle and works amazingly well compared to using a couple of short extensions, magnets, ect..... i wouldnt even attempt to pull the plugs without it now unless i had to (at the track or something) after doing it both ways.
yes this site rocks im addicted lol

i would probably disconnect the sub harness plug to the fuel injectors, turn it over with key on, starter button, don't have to take off the the battery cover & still avoids putting more gas into the cylinders. The plug is very easy to access, just behind & below #1 TB.

Sorry that I'm such a newb but do you have a pic of the plug and it's location. I have to admit that I have idea of what I'm doing I'm not mechanically inclined. But I'm learning! Thanks in advance!

#1 throttle body is the very left one on the bike when sitting on it. its kinda below and behind it. you will see a black plug in on tps. thats not it (on the side of the TB). look in further, you will see the coolant temp sensor screwed into the head, that not it either, but really close. dont go above the TB or you will get the map sensor(grey) look for wires going to the fuel injectors, they are the ones you want to unplug(all at once). very close to the temp sensor

cool I will give this a shot tomorrow ( weather permitting) I will let you know how things go. I want to check to see if I 'm getting fire at all by pulling a plug and seeing what happens but at this point I do not have a plug wrench that will fit. Life would be easier if I had a plug wrench that would fit LOL! I'm going to look for the factory kit on Ebay !

I ran it this morning and after she got to temp she ran like a champ. However I still took her to my bike mechanic for new plugs. He had already ordered them in. So I said hey a change of plugs can only help!!

Just got it back with new plugs. I wish I had photo technology here! The old plugs had rust on the bolt area. I would say that the guy that had this motor off of this bike and had it setting outside in the rain! The old platinum plugs are black as ever. Thank God I changed them when I did!!! I went with the Iridium plugs this time around.

The air filters was soaked where he put way to much oil on them. So I did a filter clean and recharge. I cannot believe the difference in performance! My next thing will be the PCIII as soon as I get the CD Rom for it.

the over oiled filters would cause a rich running condition, further shortening the life of your plugs (carbon build up) and make it harder to start
you got the link i see in the other thread. no need for a cd
