i lowered my front forks at the triple tree 1.5 inches...is that safe?..looked like at the bottom of the forks after a .5 inch they start to taper..

Use lowering links to lower the rear end. Spencer Cycles has some.

Do you mean you "raised" the forks in the clamps? If you did this, and you went 1.5" I think you've lost your high speed stability and your gonna' be bouncing your front fender off of the snout, unless you have a "snoutless" model!

If you don't think its safe, then why are you raising the forks/lowering the front more?!?!?!?

at .5 inches i could do wheelies..not having to be concerned about the ram air duct cracking the fender..my only concern is will the bottom clamp hold since there is a taper at the bottom of the front fork...

already lowered it in the rear with muzzys dog bones..middle hole(1.25 inches).

I raised my forks at the clamps 1 3/4 inches my rear has muzzy's in middle hole. gives it a nice stance and rode all nite with 160+mph spurts and the bike felt planted.... granted i dont stay at that speed for long.. Any suggestions on alternative methods of lowering and suspension settings?
GRACIAS!!!!

I have mine on the lowest setting with a Muzzy lowering link with a lower profile front tire and its awesome as far as high speed stability goes and also looks. However though..... I would be very carefull with the idea of serious conering and or passengers etc. I weigh 200 lbs.

I lowered my 01 with the Spencer dog bones and the raising the forks in the triple.
The advice was 1-1/4" on the forks and the middle hole in the bones would drop the bike ~2".
The facts were that the max the forks could be slid through the clamp w/o getting into the section change in the forks was ~1" and the last hole in the bones evened out the posture of the bike.
As for the difference in feel. amazing!! Now it feels as if I'm riding in the bike instead of perched on top of it. The clearance is less and so one has to be careful about bumps etc. but the change in how it rides is great. I haven't changed the preload yet but will try a small increase to see what the effect is.
