How hard is it usually to turn oil drive shaft

Hello fellow zx12's,
I have a question in regards to my oil pump drive shaft.
I am closing up my 2000 zx12 engine and installed a new oil pump and ceramic seal/oil seal for the impellor. I was going to install the clutch unit on the other side of the engine when I decided to try and turn the gear for the oil pump drive. To my surprisement this shaft was tight to turn........ is this normal for it being so tight.>?
When I installed the new oil pump and end cap everything was ok...... but when I finished installing the water pump and sealing thats when I noticed...... Could it be just the friction from the new ceramic seal >?

Cheers Ted

Mines quite stiff. I can turn it with my fingers but it hurts a bit! Doesn't seem to be a problem though. Keith

Thank-you Keith......
I guess I'm going to continue with assembly of the clutch unit......
Does anyone have any pointers for this task......besides clutch pack height and check for warpness of plates.....looks straight forward......

Make sure the previously mention oil pump gear is lined up to mesh with the gear on the back of the hub otherwise the hub won't go right on and you could bend the oil pump drive shaft when you do up the centre (center) nut. You can get your finger up the side of the hub and turn the gear till you feel it engage and the hub slide into place. Keith

i like to put the basket on first, then push the sleeve and bearings over the shaft and into the basket. seems to go smoother that way for me. makes lining stuff up easier. dont forget to stick something in the little hole in the basket to line up the split gears(the ones that hit the crank gear), the oil pump gear can also fit backwards on the basket and wont turn the oil pump shaft. make sure its on the right way
