To all that attended Deals Gap IV
Once again it was great to see everyone again. You don't really realize how much fun you have til everyone is gone. No matter what has happened in your life before the rally, especially the bad things, it's like magic, all that vanishes and the fun and the laughter and the good times take over. As I've met a lot of people over the last 4 rallies, I've only really got to know a few. It's not because I didn't want to meet and spend more time with others, there's only so many hours in a day, and organizing and leading an event of this size, especially deals gap one, you're not afforded the opportunity to spend as much time and ride with everyone that comes down. Its amazing to me that the comradery and bond that you can build in such short time can be so strong and lasting. It reminds me of the time I spent in the military. Where you learn about the guy in the fox hole next to you and you know that you've got each other's backs. No this is not life or death like back in those days, but its still a friendship that will last forever. To Rick, you're a hell of a guy and a hell of a rider. You say what's on your mind and you mean what you say. You're my kind of people. To Harry, another great rider, quiet spoken, and sincere. To Otis, laid back, great family man, good hearted and can ride the hell out of a 12. To Bart, funny, crazy, could sell ice to a fucking eskimo, and would definitely get most improved rider. To Brian, soft spoken, laid back, who can ride faster two up than one up, go figure. (just kidding). To the gsxxer boys, Rob and Hyder, I wasn't dissing the gsxxers, you (Rob) just got fucked up too fast. Hyder, for DGV, start making your list now so you don't forget anything next year. But you GSxxers are good riders and ya'll can ride with us 12's any day. To Roger and Brett, it was great hanging with ya'll, sorry we didn't get to ride any together because of the weather, but I hope you'll will come down soon and we'll ride then.
We'll be planning Deals Gap V for May of 2003. Start making plans. To all those who attended DG IV and the ones I've got to know through the other rallies that I haven't mentioned, you know who I'm talking about, ya'll got a special place in my heart, and our home is always open to you and my phone is always on 24-7 if you need anything. Thanks again for the great memories. Lucky12

Mark,
I not a man of many words, so I'll make this breaf.
I needed this trip, BADLY!!! I have had some very hard times in my life as of lately. In life sometimes and truely all the time one needs to be around friends, for me this is know. I got that, spending time that included some of the best riding I have ever done. Beening with people that I care for and respect. Riders have skill I hope I can learn, this for me was DGIV. The time there where Chris didn't allow anyone to watch the news, Rick who made sure that you knew all the stories he lived and receieved laughter that could wake the dead. Harry that made sure you had no question about his feelings. As for Brian he's like a brother and I can't say more. Heider well thats Heider. Rob who just had his cherry broken, has begon to suffer the depression of living in the Midwest and our roads. Mark aka Lucky, one of the best and most stand up Men I have ever meet.
Long or short thank you all for coming and giving me the great escape I needed.
I will start the count down for DGV as soon as I can get dates, that will be the end of November.
Thanks,
Bart

Agree with every thing you said Mark. While all the trips have been excellent this one seemed more personal. Smaller group? maybe. Closer friends? Certainly. My friends up here just don't quite understand it when I tell em' about it. They don't ride, and they don't know the pals that come with riding. Riding around these parts I don't trust anyone, not a soul. But I get down there riding with you fellas and I have not a worry (well one, but I'll keep that to myself) Shit I can be at 100mph in a turn with my front wheel an inch behind Rick's rear wheel and Harry filling all of my mirrors and I'm as calm as can be. That my friend is what I'm talking about when I talk about riding. Bart for sure has stepped up to the plate, I'm really proud of him and happy that he is riding not only faster but smarter, I followed him for a but and he';s picking good lines, his body position is excellent and as far as I'm concerned he has scuffed himself in. I was a little worried about Rob before I even left Detroit, I even e-mailed Bart to ask how long her has known him and how good of a rider he is. Bart told me via e-mail that he has raced and is a good guy and he was absolutely right. Rob is a great guy and I had a blast hanging out with him and he can ride that gixxer boy. He better be back in May! Hyder, well he's hyder, the leaving man. Brian I got to talk to and hang with more this trip and indeed he is a great guy and his wife Stacy was cool too, hope he's back in May. Rick and Harry? Well they know how I feel about them, buds till the end and while riding with everyone is awesome, the three of us have done the most miles together and when it's Rick then I then Harry in a line I sincerely am in the zone, and having the best time of my life. Mark, well brother you are just plain fast as shit and truely the nicest fella I've met. Always a pleasure to see you and Melissa and I think we need a new name for you, SHOW UP MAN. Why you ask? Cause when we were on the Cherahola, beating a good pace, and I thought you were waaaay back cause you got held up by all that traffic, you just show up. Like POW here I am, going by you on the outside eating tea and crumpets! LOL I love it man, you're too fast for your own good so you need to give me some of that fast. I was glad that Roger came down to see us but bummed we didn't get to ride with him cause in Sept of 2001 the riding with him and Mike and Rick was some of the best ever and that boy is scary fast too. Anyway, it was a great time and one that by way too fast. May will be here soon and if it's just the same group again I'm a happy man, if a few more join us that's good too, they'll just have to learn a couple things real quick. No news, no bullshit, a good sense of humor and the ability to quickly, without hesitation say BART! SHUT THE FUCK UP!

How can I put the whole deal in words??????
If I were to sum it all up as briefly as possible I'd just say the word "AWESOME". The whole deal was just fabulous. I can't ever remember having such a good time. The riding was superb. Hanging at the cabin, and throwing back cold beers and raisin' hell with all you guys was so much fun. I can remember looking around at everybody, and seeing them smile and just laugh until they were about out of breath. I am just proud that I was able to be a part of it. You guys are great people.
To Mark, homeboy you are a hell of a guy. You go out of your way to do whatever you can to make sure everyone has a good time. Your riding is top shelf man, I always enjoy riding with you. I wish we had a pic of you and I headed to the foothills that day on the wheelies. That was great. Also you telling me midway thru the Cherohala to take your bike shocked the shit out of me. I didn't want to at first, but hell I hated to turn down a ride on the thing. It's sweet, and has MAJOR power. You are a "Good Ol' Boy" Mark, and I 'spect that we'll do a little more riding in the future.
To Harry & Chris, you fellas and I have fuckin' blazed thru those mountains like goddamned Winston Cup cars in a draft @ Daytona quite a few times now. I have absolute faith in you guys as riders, but more importantly I have even more faith in you as friends. You boys are alright by me, hell you're like fucking brothers to me. I know when we get together a good time is almost a given. Fast riding, lots of laughter, and plenty of bench racin'. I think the world of you guys and I'm so very proud to call you my friends.
To Bart, you crazy sumbitch!!! You are a fuckin' hoot brother. I could sit here and type all day about the crazy shit you did. Does anyone remember...."The door,...the door,...the door"? LOL The Smack Talk was of epic proportions and you held your ground for the most part, and at times did exceptionally well. I'll give you the title of "Most Improved Rider", and "Most Improved Smack Talker" as well. Your riding has really came leaps and bounds Bart. Keep doing what your doing brother. You are a good friend to me also Bart, I really enjoyed hanging out and riding with you. You fuckin' just crack me up though. Never a dull moment. If it ain't something you're doing that's funny, it's something you're wearing. You are damned good guy Bart, I don't care what Rob says.
To Rob, dude you are a good rider and a lot of fun. I can't believe that towards the end of the trip we had you talking smack!!! That shit was funny as hell. We are a tough group to deal with at times and you did it with ease. I look forward to riding with you again in the future. Had a good time rapping with you too, we can talk bikes for days I guess. Take care of yourself and have your ass back in May for DG5. Oh yeah,....thanks again for letting me ride the 1k, I love that fucking bike.
To Brian, man you are probably the most level headed of this group. I enjoyed riding with you, and YES I did ride with you. Had a blast back at the cabin hanging out with you too. We were on Bart so bad at times I felt a little sorry for the boy. LOL It was nice meeting your wife, and I have to tell you she did pretty good in a very tough crowd. She wasn't intimidated by all of us crazy fuckers at all. I hope to ride, and hang out with you again in May. Oh yeah,...you make a mean burger too!!!
To Hyder, the "Leaving Man" as Chris called him. Didn't get to ride with you much, but I did enjoy kickin' it out on the front porch of the cabin with you man. Take care and stay outta trouble.
I gotta give a "Shout Out" to Melissa too. She's a sweety and always wears a smile. Mark you are a lucky man, I guess that's where you got the name eh????? You two are a class act.
In closing I'd like to say that I too needed this trip. I have pretty much been in a world of shit for way too long. But the trip was just what the Doctor ordered and it worked miracles for sure. I'm still coming down to earth from it. It'll take me some time to adjust back to "Normal" living. Thanks for all the kind words guys, you people are an awesome group. I can't wait to do it all again.

I'm ill.
Not due to the "mushy group hug" thing. It's because not only did work keep me from going, but because I got sent to some God forsaken beach for a damn advertising confrerence!
You guys can not imagine how bad I wanted to be there. SERIOUSLY! If anything, ya'll needed someone to slow ya'll down (by waitin' on me to catch up or findin' me when I get lost!)!
There will be nothing that will keep me away this May. NOTHING!
