The whole deal on octane is interesting. The major fuel companies like VP always reccommend the lowest octane you can run safely. It burns faster. The problem is in most cases with modified bikes you need the higher octane to deal with compression and detenation. That is also why guys that buy the really high octane fuels actually get less horsepower. 114 octane works for turbos but makes less horsepower with a normal engine. Nutec and VP both run around 90 octane and make good horsepower. As fo the smell of race gas, I can tell you very few people enjoy following a bike on Nutec!

regarding exhaust smell, i noticed something that i thought was very odd when ridin to sportbikewest this year. spent most of the ride behind mattie_k (he feels he target fixates so prefers bein in front & thats fine by me, otherwise i gotta keep stoppin every coupla minutes to keep from losin him), & let me tell u, the exhaust from the RC smells divine! never smelled exhaust with such a bouquet before. i'm not 100% sure, but i think it had the nice smell both with the stock cans & the 2bros slipons. havent noticed such a ditinctive smell from any other bike. explain that! and no, it's not mattie_k's perfume waftin back to me, thats an entirely different smell

Interesting..... Of course there is always a chance he might have drop a dash of bean oil in the tank. I have been known to do that. Nothing like the smell of a little caster bean oil in the morning!
