Muzzy exhaust

Does anyone know if its smart to put on a Muzzy pipe on a 02 12R without installing a Power Commander? Also someone told me that if you dissconnect battery and hook it up again it will recognize the pipe and voila?!?!?

I have a buddy with a Hayabusa and a muzzys pipe with no pcIIIr and i have Hindle pipe with no pcIIIr...it works ok for now but we both agree...there's no getting around a pcIIIr if you want optimum performance and power.

My 2002 ran better with just the muzzy exhaust. When I installed the pcIIIr with the muzzy map the bike ran considerably slower, still trying to sort out the map to account for elevation differences, since I'm below sea level.

Once the pc3r is installed and mapped right, does fuel economy go up or down?

zemmmy...you ever thought about getting a custom map...i know once i install my pcIIIr im going to have to get one..because i cant stand the idea of putting and upgrade on my bike that cost 350 dollars and the bike runs worse. after hearing these types of stories i'm a little hesitant about installing the pcIIIr, but for the fact that everyone that gets a custom map say (night and day difference).

I thought about getting a custom map, but right now i'm trying to save a little cash and sort it out myself by playing with the map from the muzzy web site.

.....if doug meyers is reading this post, any suggestions on the change in altitude from where you made the map and where i'm at(sea level).

Zemmy... Sometimes things happen lke you mentioned above. You install a new exhaust system and the bike seems to run stronger than it does after getting a power commander and a map. There is a reason for that. It is called lean. You may have seen a drop in power because the map brought things back into the realm of safety if you will.

Don't discount a good map. And certainly Dougs map is a good place to start and frankly stay at if you can't afford to have a custom map. And don't be fooled into thinking if you arn't getting it on hard on the bike your safe. My 1361 without the Power commander hooked up runs fine. It makes a 196 hp without the power commander. It also runs extremely lean at and near idle and between 50 to 70 miles an hour in 6th gear. Long trip on the freeway and it would be melt down time.

Just my 2 cents worth.
