That is sneaky and underhanded all done in the name of getting money from another source other than taxes to fund all of the feel good entitlement programs that our fucking government administers these days in the name of buying votes. After all, new or higher taxes will get the politicians un-elected faster than they can say "carpetbagger". The bastards do this and tell us they are protecting us from ourselves. Oh yea, they are also doing it for the children.
What ever happened to the spirit of the chase and this used to be a free country, we should act like it.

They just started doing the same thing here in the construction zones on Arkansas' interstates. They is so much construction goin' on dwon here, I'm starting to believe that "Arkansas" is Indian for "Land of the Orange Barrels".

Okay, no one hates Highway patrols as much as me...no one. I think they all are a bunch of armed meter mollies....BUT I also think a construction zone is a good place to slow down and do the speed limit, just too many things to happen. Now on the other hand the NHP here set up a dummy work zone to trap people going to work, I think they should be fired...that is just pure bullshit. I also think that the major cause of accidents here is the NHP, everyday I go to work there are shitloads of drivers doing dangerous shit and all the NHP cares about is speed I mean they will stop you for 5 mph over. But following too close, cutting people off, not signaling, etc is okay with them because they like tho fry their nuts with Radar. We do want them to procreate anyway...assholes.

I think there is nothing wrong with that. There are far to many people speeding through construction zones. I hate going slow as much or more then anyone. But when it comes to cunstruction workers safety they need all of it they can get.

more safety for the workers hell yea just toss a couple of marke cars there with lights on.
wheres the safety with someone dressed up as a worker. as i go speeding past then get pulled over a MILE DOWN THE ROAD or where ever.
hell if the cop was posted in plain view i'll slow down fast for sure alonge with everyone ele's.
then everyone is safer no one holding up traffic up the road, no one rubbernecking more than one should be ect.
so who gains here the workers who still have the cars speeding past just so the state county ect, can get some extra income.
seeing is beleaving and brings better respons

Well in Vancouver, BC cops are pretending to be squeegee folks at intersection. Instead of washing your windows, they hand out seat belt tickets.

If it was really about the workers safety, why do they double the $$ fine? Why not just make it a mandatory 30 suspension for every 5 miles over the posted limit. That would be much more of a deterent, and have a greater effect on the safety issue then this revenue grabbing. We have the same bs here in WA. And the really shitty part is, they leave up the signs for a month after the work is complete, and the fine is in effect as long as the sign is up!. No work has to be performed to make it a work zone. GRRRR.

No matter the stealth and tricks troopers use, he said, there will always be people speeding through construction zones and on highways.
''It's human nature to take your foot off the gas when you see a cop,'' Carrick said. ''What this covert speed enforcement offers is the proposition of them never knowing when you're there watching.''
it is SOO much BS.
if they want people to slow down, post the cops there so that they are seen, the people WILL slow down.
''It's human nature to take your foot off the gas when you see a cop,''
if they were truly worried about safety, then THAT result is the ideal one.
in jacksonville area, they post cars with lights flashing every so many miles in construction zones when there are workers present. the average speed goes from 10-15 over to 1-2 over.
esp on bike, i hold a few over the average, keeps me visible and moving, not static.
of course as tragic as death is on the highway, how many of the construction fatalities were actually caused by a speeder, and how many were worker error? or how many occured while the posted limit WAS being obeyed? and how many were just construction accidents that had nothing to do with traffic at all?
just like the gungrabbers use the statistics to say that a child gets killed by a gun every ___ minutes, but fail to tell you that a child is anyone under 25....
again i have absolutely NO issues with proactive measures to curb dangerous driving. iwonder if the 'surveyor' is so focused on the speed measurement he fails to note the other infractions that are far more dangerous than speed? the swerving, the reading, the cellphone-lane wandering etc? if htey truly were safety motivaed, there would be some other sorts of safety observers as well, ones to look for the non-speeding dangerous driving, failure to signal, tailgating, etc...
bah i hate self-proclaimed do-gooding. it is so close to election time, these programs are destined to disappear after november anyway
and for those police officers who do read this board and do proactively enhance public safety, my hat is off to you. great job. it is the ones who help nothing that are aggravating. the ones that profile. (like where i used to live, always see non-white folks pulled over since they were the 'profiled' drug traffickers, on fishing expeditions for drugs. sure they made arrests and drug siezures, but how many innocent people got harassed and treated like criminals based on their skin tone alone?) the ones who sit and wait, kowing their ticketbook will find its fill if only the wait is long enough.
meanwhile some guy and his 2 kids are on side of road for 2 hours before the FIRST highway patrol happens by. i was only 10 minutes behind the fhp. that includes time i took to flip a uturn on the next exit.
and before asked, no i don't stop for every stranded car. after dark, hardly ever. bike, always. car with another car there too, no. car with lady/dude and his/her kids, with flashers blinking fast showing they been there a while, almost every time. risk assessment. since i travel unarmed, i don't have the luxury of feeling confident enough to stop more often.
and again, i saw 2 fhp guys monday helping change a tire on a car. again good work to them. though it was the first time i've seen that in ages.
as far as my speeding habits go. well it is true that i speed. and sometimes it is frivolous, in middle of nowhere, and endangers me to do so.
in traffic is another story. i will ALWAYS be above the posted limit, by at least 3 or 4. or 3 or 4 above whatever traffic is flowing at. does this make me criminal, yes i guess so, since i am breaking the law. but it again is a risk assessment i have done, and am willing to deal with the consquences as they arise. this is my safety margin, and i will always use it. the extra speed ensures that i do not become complacent and comfortable with the cars i am around. this ensures THEY do not grow used to that 'extra light' and forget it is there. this ensures that passing maneuvers (for most part) are initiated by me and my speed relative to traffic around me is controlled by ME. this does not say there are faster riders/drivers out there, and i will get passed on occasion. but this is the bes compromise i have to help maintain safety.
and perhaps it works, i know i have had no close calls when i have been actively and aggressively riding, every close call has been either improper lane position for oncoming traffic, blatant swerving, or at a stop, someone running red light. in every case that could have been a close call on freeway etc, my concentration level has been high enough to more than adequately get out of the way of danger. in any case, this leaves me with the need to prevent the single-vehicle gravity explorations i seem to have bad habits with.. ;P
anyway enough of this, i shouldn't be angry about stupid stuff like this, but i hate to see people use the misfortune of others as a gain or excuse to do something.
