Tire Question???
I got 4800 miles out of my front 207 and need another. My question is about how the is worn. It is obviously feathered or cupped but the left side of the tire is worn much more than the right. Looks like I've been doing left handers more than right handers which I don't think is the case. I also think I lean the bike over more in right hand turns than I do in left hand turn which is evident by the smaller chicken strip on the right side of the rear tire. This is weird to me because I don't know how the front can be out of alignment except the fork tubes be out of alignment. That doesn't seem to be the case either because the bike seems to drive straight without any pulling with or without hands on the bars. Anyone got any insight to offer???

Dont know your riding habits, but the 207s dont last long at all. I think the most I ever got was 2500 miles (and that was out of desperation!)
The BT010s are much better and are a dual compound tire. I just happened to mount up a BT010 "R" model! Good tire!

Yep...I switched to the Bridgestone BT010's also and I love em! You'll be glad you switched.

I saw the same uneven wear on a friend's F3. She wasn't doing anything unusual either. We never figured it out. I'd be interested in some insight on this topic myself.

The left side of the tires wears more because our roads have a slight center to outer slope to direct the rain water to run off the road.

Road Design...
Mono on Easy's site suggested that the way the roads are crowned for drainage, (higher in the center, lower on the right side) causes the left side to wear faster than the right makes a lot of sense to me. Additionally my bike is lowered about an inch in the front and my weight (I'm porkin at 240+) adds much more front end bias which helps to the pronounced effect.
BT010s will be tried next although I have no qualms with the Dunslops.

Extreme lean angles don't always mean more tire wear. Depending on ones skill and comfort level you can rail corners with less lean angle buy getting off the bike (hanging off). But in most cases I think you will find that your riding style and roads have you getting on the gas sooner and harder in more of the left hand turns. For what ever reason most Americans and Canadians for that matter are more comfortable turning left and do so better and are on the gas sooner and harder. Thus the Left side does wear more. I would suspect this to be the opposite it Britian. This is accelerated some by the crown in the roads as well.
Having changed a significant number of tires on numerous different bikes it is clear that tires don't tend to wear even. With the exception of the really conservative riders.

ZH is mostly right, what also is happening is how much you are countersteering to make the corner, the more you countersteer the more wear you will see. Hanging off the bike will lesson the wear, by making the bike stand up more. Late braking (braking in the turn) will also cause accelerated wear, you could be braking into left handers much later than rights. Motorcycles have a tendency to align themselves because the wheels will turn into a parallel mode, it just gets a bit crablike.

The countersteer issue Ted mentioned above is correct. Especially on the front tire. One of my racing buddies is a fast rider that just rips the hell out of tires. He goes through front two to one on me. He also crashes in some weird spots. He swears by the Keith Code School matra; "No one ever crashed by turning to fast". BS! Countersteering is important, but being vicious about it upsets the motorcycle suspension and causes unusual loading of the front tire.
And I also agree on the hard braking effects as well.

4800 miles? Wow, the impossible dream for me. My latest set of D207RR's are about gone. <600 miles on them; I am at the wearbars in the rear, & almost there on the front. I've got plenty in the center, but the sidewalls are toast. Gotta quit hanging the rear out exiting corners & plowing the front on entries... 
Typically I get 1200f/900r, but I was out on a few really hot (100'+) days & rode pretty hard recently. Plus the roads out here in CA are "tar & chip" paved instead of traditional asphalt which causes extremely fast wear no matter what tire your using.
Think I'm gonna try some Sportec's next time & go back to the 200 rear instead of the 190. Make it harder to spin up exiting corners...
