Renting Leathers?
Ok...so Im planning on heading to Maxton next month with TB and I would like to actually run my bike rather than watch steve run it himself....are there any options for renting a 1 piece leather suit?
Steve mentioned that Vanson rents leathers at certain events...any chance maxton might be large enough for that? If not...does anyone know of any other options? Honestly I dont see myself ever wearing a 1pc suit again after this...so im not going to purchase one outright as I have a two piece zipper kind already.
Anyway...any of you have information on this subject?

Oh I dunno....do they come in "Real Fat?"
I wear arounda 54-56 jacket..and 40-42 waist pants.

Guess that certainly is a possibility.
I was however under the assumption that there was a possibility that they wouldnt allow that and RAC4IT had to do a little "convincing" to let him run.
I really dont want to get there and have to be a spectator because I dont have the proper gear.
Plus..the pants I have are somewhat small I dont need to be flashing my bitness in a set of tight leather pants.

Ok...Just got off the phone with Dave at Vanson.
He informed me that you could indeed rent leathers for the weekend for 65 bucks.
Basically he would need a copy of your Drivers License and CC information and would charge your card for the full price of the leathers. (900 bucks). Upon return of the leathers the card would be refunded the full amount (minus the 65 dollar rental fee).
If you at a later time choose to purchase the leathers...the 65 dollars would be credited to the cost of the suit.
He did say that they would be happy to do this for any of us traveling to maxton via mail instead of in person at the event as they usually do.
If this is my only option (read if i cant borrow or rent a suit from harry) then I guess Ill do it. Anyone else interested?

If you see where my problem is going, I may also end up at Vanson! $65.00 is a great price! Maybe I will end up doing that if they cannot fix my leathers or at least fix them right now!!

Keep in mind that they will charge the full amount (900 bucks) to your credit card while you have the suit...then refund the money minus the rental fee upon safe return of the leathers.

I've emailed ECTA tech three times this year asking for a temporary waiver of this rule but have yet to receive any response. FWIW Steve Knecum wears two-piece drag leathers and goes 235mph at Maxton so you'd think they could give us a curve until the end of this season... oh well, guess I'm going the rental route as well.

For what its worth, I just bought a one piece from newenough.com for $355 delivered.
Has some decent features, although they are cut for smaller torso guys. (Im 6'2
They have a 10day return policy, so order a set that will fit you before the meet and return them after...lol.

Hey, I just found another alternative. Kneedraggers.com rents suits as well. From what I can tell, the cost is ~$125 for a weekend and that includes return shipping.
