ZX12 track times

2001 ZX12. Muzzy slip on. PCIIIr, K&N. Stock gearing. Lowered two inches. Have a so called stock Zx-14 that wants to run at the track for money. And a stretched 2002 Busa with who knows what done but its no NOS bike. I weight 150. Ride a lot. Had three ZX-11's. Best all stock was 10.40's at 131. Where does anyone think my ZX-12 will be on lets say a 1.65-1.70 60 ft time run. Track is not prepped that well. Allso at 2500 ft elevation here. Temps are now down to a balmy 90-95.

I think I will look into going two up in the rear. Did that on a 95 ZX-9 I had way back when and dropped from 10.80's to 10.60's in 80 degree heat.

Shooting for 10 flat with this 12.

Put a 16 tooth on it...........

I could run 9s just doing that, and lowering it, with no pc.

if you can ride i would go -2 out front and +2 out back slam it and strap it take the filters out. and if you have the time i would bump the stock timing up and set the tps. the last to wont cost you any thing and on a stock bike thy help a lot. but the gear well mean a lot.

I can do ok on 60 fts. Don't ride the street that much anymore. Sometimes take the 92 ZX11 out and do a couple hundred miles. Mostly ride my KX500 or KX450 in the desert and mountains. This 01 ZX12 I got new only has 3500 miles on it. Poor thing. Also have an 05 ZX-10 I got leftover in the crate thats never been started. Just lowered it a bit. Got a PC and filter. Undecided on gearing with it. I am not that heavy and like the longer gearing on most bikes.

I run 100 unleaded in the 12 as 91 pump gas would ping on the bike, all stock. On 100, added a little timing with the IIIr. Fuel is probably off but seems to run ok for the Muzzy slip-on. Doesn't snap crackle or pop at all!!

Making the gearing change this coming week. Not supposed to run this guy till the 26th.

Would be happy to get in the 9's out here. Since so many people cry about the shitty air index in Vegas. Least cooler weather is coming.

well your 12 is no zx11 when it comes to 60fting it. me on my bike (145lb before leathers.) with RS3 bolt on ran very low 10s. with out the slipping clutch some ware in the 9.90s with a strap and stock gearing. now i am 16/44 and it helps a lot with the extra 1"+ gain in wheelbase. this way best 60ft is 1.62 it was tough to bear and i have not mastered it yet. hell last night best was 1.80 first time in 2 months + i suck again. 1.70 to 1.65 when u get in the grove is not hard.(i am also middle hole and front slid up 3/4")
i say at 2500 ft 85 deg day 10.10 to 10flat.+/- your skill level.
you will beat the zx11 time (my best was zx11c 1992 10.52 stock everything @700ft) though i could get 1.68 60 no strap and need strap to get better than a 1.75 it seams on the 12.
the busa and zx14 (with flys out anyway) require less skill to 60ft well. be on your game.
i think if they know what they are doing you will be giving them money.if all know what they are doing i think u will be working hard to beat them. if they are posers you will beat them if you get it out well.

This shit 91 octane gas out here is a joke. It might as well be labeled 89 octane. You guys with 92 or 93 on the east coast or midwest are lucky. My bike ran well in Texas on 93. The heat out here does not help either with the 91.

I have a car dyno and see a lot of cars on with said pump gas. Its tough to make power on it.

Use Rocket Brand 100 unleaded in all my stuff. Consistent and works well.

Don't expect the greatest 60 ft times but as good as they will get for the given track conditions. Have watched the busa run before and he is not consistent as a rider. Plus I am 60 pounds lighter. Lowering the 12 was the best thing I have done so far. The gearing will hopefully only add to that.

16/48 is too much gear for stock w/b, imo. It's a step in the wrong direction if you have to short shift it. Try spending the $15 for a 17T first and see how you like it.

If I can run 10.1's at 260 pounds suited on 17/47, you can do better.

The chain is not long enough to go up two in the rear it appears. Going one tooth on the front for starters.

The best gearing for use with the OEM chain is 16-44 and you get almost an extra inch of wheelbase!!!...for DragRacing of course!!!

A week ago at a car show I saw the ZX-14. Has exhaust. Probably a PC. Was looking it over and the guy who shot his mouth off and wanted me to race the 14, saw me. Didn't say a whole lot to me. Originally thought he owned the bike. So I have no idea what size the rider and real owner is. Fast forward to Thursday night. Saw the Busa guy. He starts crying his extended arm is giving problems and his chain is binding up. WTF. Just like the past, bike guys are full of excuses and full of shit when it comes to racing. Agreement is to wait tll the 17th to run. No I didn't run my 12 friday night. Times are displayed and no sense in giving away the cards. This gives me more time to work on my bike. Want to run 9's with this 12 but more importantly just need to beat these two bikes. Guess my realistic goal is 10.00 for the altitude and if cooler weather this fall allows, maybe get some 9's.

Was at the track a week ago with a car I was working on for a guy. Saw some bikes running. Didn't look any of them could 60 ft better than a 1.80-1.90 if that. One guy lost his bike off the line and it hit the wall!!!!! Did see this 08 Busa who knows the guy with the car I was working on. 10.40 at 145. Probably 200 pound guy. Supposedly had a turbo busa before. Now he wants to race me. Nice nobody has seen be at the track nor my bike.

So as of now I got a 2002 Busa, strecthed but on motor. 2007 ZX-14 with PC and exhaust and now this 08 Busa.

Was practicing starts till I could hoover the front wheel till about 30 mph a few inches off the ground. Thinking of strapping the front yet. Bike is lowered and I even raised up the front end, had it a little too low.

The bike guys are all excited cool weather is here. Yet the track will be worse for hooking.

Not sure what date its going to be now for a matchup. The ZX14 guy got mad a few weeks back when I told his buddy any cement road, will run him on. Too funny.

Tempted to put a bottle on it.

you will never ever spin on a stock wheelbase bike on a preped drag strip. it will just stand up. straps help, and are only $30. if you put on a dry nitrous kit, get the schnitz rpm window switch to go with it. keep it safe.
