Risers

Has anybody installed risers on an 01 ZX12R??

The top calmp includes the key and so has to stay??

Perhaps shims under the triple.

Also dog bones to lower the height??

Thanks

Wayne

With the bar clamps as part of the top clamp how did you fit the Heli bar clamps??

I want to lower the bike ~1" and so I'd like to slide the forks up and get a dog bone to lower the rear by the same.

The Heli-bars just fit in place of the OEM handles. They have an off-set that raises and brings the grips a little closer. I may have misunderstood what you were looking for.

Go to Doug at Spencer Cycle! You can get them in 3 rises! I have the 1.5" rise! You disconnect the wiring for the Switch, remove the Bolt that holds the handle bars in place and after removing the top clamp, drill the 2 bolts that hold the ignition in place and he supplies new bolts! If security is your worry, buy new Kawasaki twist off bolts and remount your switch! Price is about $265.00 plus shipping! Look at his site it is machined form billet and a beautiful peace of work!

BTW, from reading your post, it does not look like you have a shop manual! It is a necessity if you are going to do any work on your bike! "A Picture is worth a thousand words!"!!

As I understand the Heli bars clamp to the forks, have a riser and clamps for new bars.

What about the ignition key isn't it a part of the top clamp??

The Heli-Bars use the factory mounting bosses and just replace the straight piece of pipe with an off-set one.

What's the URL reference for Spencer cycle, went there couldn't find the risers.

Is the key not part of the top clamp. And No I don't have the manual as yet but soon.

Vince,

I donno if I asked this b4, but how about cable/brake line/wiring length? As you now have the 1.25" additional rise, I'd be worried about length of everything...? Did you have to do any mods?

We sell s/s lines that may be used with this part. But we have had some custormers use their stock lines. From what we understand they are removing the bolt from the juction block on the lower tree and this is giving them the length they need.

I redrilled the hole that Positions the Throttle cables forward 1/8" so that the cables clear the the fairing! I moved the Clutch lever as far inward as possible for more leverage and a little length! (Re adjust the amount of play!) as for Brake lines, I have Goodrich I had to cut the bracket on the lower tripple clamp to remount the plastic! My feeling anout stock is "Somehow" you must disconnect the mount on the fork to give the line more room!

Just a note.... The units we have installed in the shop we have NOT had to drill and reposition the throtlle. The unit is designed to work without doing anything of this nature.

THESE WILL NOT FIT THE 2002 MODLES---AT THIS TIME!!!!!

I have the 1.5 rise! WIth the moving of the throttle cables, I have full lock to lock and "Just" clear the upper fairing mount!
