...I saw one dem' shiny fancy dancy 2002 toyota celicas stopped at the stoplight today...you know, the one in the toyota commercial where the motorcop pulls up next to a parked one and blips his siren...so this guy's stopped at the traffic light and slowly pulls away...I pull up next to his car and get on my loudspeaker and say, "SLOW DOWN!"...you know, like how that old coot yelled at the parked celica in the commercial...he looks at me, bewildered and confused...I smile and say, "You know, like in the commercial....just kidding...cool car, dude!"...he's obviously stoked that a cop can appreciate his bad-ass ride...we're both laughing and smiling as we part ways...hey, sometimes I get that way...

BA- at least they were looking for your bike.
Someone got a woody when they ran your plate.

At least you weren't my friend who got pulled over in his orange 74 AMX Javelin, pulled out of the car, thrown to the ground with a gun to his head because they were looking for an armed guy in a Red Mustang.

...good thing these kinds of severe incidents aren't too much of a common occurrence, but unfortunately it happens on occasion...lots of times cops only have a split second or a few seconds to make a decision, or a few precious and tense minutes to decifer real-time info...especially if some kind of action needs to be taken at that time...sometimes we won't know until too late that what occurred or is occurring was the result of bad info...a good, conscientious cop does not enjoy putting a gun to someone's head because of mistaken identity or mistaken intentions...its a perilous and dangerous situation to be on either side of the gun...I, too, would be horrified and scared out of my mind if what happened to your friend ever happens to me...most cops' mentality is to be safe, then be sorry later if its warranted...and most, if not all, will sincerely apologize and empathize for a scarey mistake...whether the mistaken person or public chooses to believe it or not, depends on the totality of the circumstance...at times, it can be the most difficult job in the world...unfortunately, we now live in a dangerous world...and we try to do our best with what we have and what the public expects us to do...

Down here in Hamilton......

......they just seem to keep a close eye on me but have yet to pull me over. I do get nervous when they are right behind me. I had a Butler County sheriff deputy follow me into a 5/3 Bank parking lot and ask me where my county sticker was. I didn't even know they issued county stickers for bikes. He also said he really wanted to run my plate because so many sportbikes get stolen. He seemed like an OK guy.

hey wormy, I wasn't trying to say anything bad about cops. The ones I met out here are pretty swell.

That story was from "back east".

I hear you about the apology part of the cop. That's cool. Truth is this one just told my friend to get in his car and leave. The other truth is, my friend was more than happy to get in his car and leave. Sad part is he probably didn't sleep well for a while.

...hey ddpete3..I know that...I'm just being a worm on a soapbox...while there's no official mandate for apologies, they still owed him one AND a good explanation for their actions...it would've been the decent and right thing to do...some cops make the job more difficult than it needs to be...some can be real assholes...I pity the fool who treats me that way...I'll have something for him/her...legally, of course

worm~hole, ddpete3

The thing about it is that there are many REAL nice cops out there... I personally know a few. However, in all the years that I have been exposed to the law, my assessment has been that the majority abuse their powers and are a$$holes!!!

Don't let me bore you with the story about how my son and I both ended spending the night in jail after a little tire squeal

Hey BA... was it your new Z28 that I was slamed into by that Middletown cop???!!!

...I disagree with your assessment, mustang-boy...the majority of cops are professionals...unfortunately for you (and some others here and there), it seems you've only been exposed to bad experiences...but as always, we only hear the bad side of things, whether its by the ratings-hungry media or by disgruntled private citizens...perhaps its more interesting, no?...and that's the way it is....the way it seems to have always been...may your future contacts with cops be positive ones...and vice versa ...and hey, I'm not discounting bad cop behavior at all...I don't like it, either...everyone gets what's coming to them...everyone....

~5000lbs of Caprice with NOS'd LT1...I'd say that's real heavy...better than bow-tie-boy...shit, peewee herman wore bowties...and he's a freak ...twin 10lb blue bottles in the trunk don't help the weight much...or do they? ...maybe weight transfer

...put a claim in with the department if they damaged your innocent car during police action...pending further investigation, the departments will almost always pay...don't make them paint it for you, tho, they just might make it into a black&white

223 i know there are be good cops, I know some. Good cops are like safe snakes.
Not saying cops are snakes, but if you dont know which one will kill you then fear all of them. The topic was terrorist. Me personally, I'm 10 time more concerned about some asshole with a badge beating or shooting me than i am about being blown up by arab terrorist.

911 was a horror in american history. I would bet that more americans are injured/killed unjustly each year than were on 911. With little or no
press or punishment.

Man we had this Cop vs Bike topic 2 years ago! The same thing is true. Every rider isn't a "Star boy" in training! Just like everycop isn't a gun happy power abusing mother fucker! I would like to think everyone here is mature enough to not sterotype. Will you be stopped? I'm sure you will Shit I stop people everyday. So for all you who know police work so well Apply for the job get in a car and go stop a person wanted for Murder! Dress like a bum and go buy dope from some shit bag dealer, or dress up and play a shit bag dealer. Untill you have walked in these shoes you can't speak on cop mentality. Could the bike stop been handled differently, I'm sure it could have! One thing that wasn't mentioned is that when a vehicle is stopped the police don't know anything about the occupant/operator. Just because a vehicle is registered to a person doesn't make them the driver! Yes, I have been stopped and yes I have had some problems. Its not the shirt but the person inside it. Ass hole with a star = ass hole without! Far a brutality we got a stolen Busa last week that was stolen from a cop we ride with. The thief didn't get hit one time! However I am looking into getting his business license pulled forcing him to leave my great city and forever remain in the burbs

...and I hope...I hope that I NEVER have to shoot a human being in this life of my next...but I WILL use the force neccessary to effect an arrest...and I WILL win if you try to hurt me when I'm trying to do my lawful job in a professional manner...like I, and others have said before...lots of proud pros out there doing the right things and in a lawful manner...not a whole bunch of trigger happy or bat weilding hooligans...otherwise there'd be a major public revolt every freekin day, now wouldn't it?.....MOST of us use our communication skills and powers of persuasion resolve incidents in a peaceful and uninjured manner...we're mostly a reactionary force...when we're not out looking to stop trouble, we're waiting for trouble to happen...the badguy usually dictaes his/her fate and how its resolved...man, some people just watch way too much TV fiction or what the ratings hungry newscast choose to televise and think that's the way it done all the damn time...hey, I know that your individual experiences may differ...but on the whole, I bet the majority of people who get stopped or are contacted are just pissed off because they were caught doing something they weren't supposed to be doing...and no beatings occurred, nor unprofessional behavior by the cops...if you don't get a smile, don't take it personal, you're pissed off at the cop anyway........Bahahahahahahaha!!!!

Something to ponder: "When two tigers fight, one will be severly injured...the other will surely die..." Peace
