My Run-In with JOHNNY LAW.................

Let me tell you what happened to ME just the other night!!!

I'm riding home from the local drag-strip (Kil-Kare) recently, and since it was nasty hot and kind of
humid, I was in shorts which is very rare.
I had my leathers in a backpack that I use on days like this.

So, I'm leaving Frickers where we all hang out after racing and I'm being all careful and watchful of the speedlimit's and such.

After about 15-20 minutes, I get off the interstate and end up right behind an Ohio State Trooper!
Wow, I thought, good thing I didn't roll up on him on the Interstate where I was 'cruising' at a leisurely 85 or so.....

So, as we are both in the left turn lane with a bunch of other cars, the light goes green
and just as you turn, the road is a 4 laner. (2 each way, no median)
He takes the left lane, I need the right lane. I'm thinking all is good!

Up at the next light however, it breaks out to 4 lanes, and a big intersection. Two turn left, two go straight.

Here's where my fun begins....I don't have my mirrors on the bike, I had left them at home because of the racing, and had on those chrome mirror replacement things. I DID NOT want to turn my head around to see where this cop
went to for fear of drawing attention to myself. (although, I'm in a helmet, in shorts and have a
large backpack....I don't exactly look like I'm going to squidly stuff. Pretty innocent looking, I thought.)

All the way home for me from here is 25mph or 35mph, (yaaawwwwnnn), so I stick to the speed limits with a few
cars behind me, but I had this FEELING that the cop was following me. Like I could see the headlights of some
car behind me and they were either closer than normal, or just oddly pacing me exactly! It was weird.

So, I keep this feeling for the next 10 minutes and 5 more miles home and even as I'm taking the side entrance into the housing platt, I see headlights from behind me!

I think to myself, I'm going to take a few extra turns to get to my house, and a few stop signs and maybe I'll get a chance to look behind me. I SURE AS HELL DIDN'T WANT TO LEAD A COP RIGHT TO MY DOORSTEP!! There might come a day when I come racing home at Warp Speed trying to elude, ahem, get to bed right away.

Well, wouldn't ya know it, I made my first 'special' turn and only about 100yds later I see these FLASHING RED AND BLUE lights lighting up the trees and houses all around me........and it's about 11:10 at night! I turn around, and yup, it was that same Ohio State Trooper! I was like, CRAP (!!) what the hell does he want with ME!?!??!

I pull over, turn the key off and sit there for all of about 3 seconds and I hear a loud voice
from the car. "TURN - OFF - THE - BIKE!!!" I'm thinking, dude, it *IS* off. :-/

My visor is up, so I yell back. IT IS. He says "REMOVE - THE - BACKPACK - AND - PLACE
IT - ON - THE - GROUND!!!!" I do it. Then he says... " TAKE - OFF - YOUR - HELMET!!"
Now I'm thinking,......hmmmm. this guy is totally serious! I wonder what is up??!!

I'm noticing extra lights flashing from behind now, and a cruiser coming from my front side now as well!
Wow, I'm thinking,.... He's got...*"BACKUP"*!! (ooOOOoooo) Cuz I'm soooo dangerous in my Levi Jean shorts.
BE CAREFUL!!! 'dare's no tellin' HOW much crack-cocaine I'm packin' in that backpack, and I *might*
even have a Gee-Lock tucked in 'dese here shorts!!

So, anyway, he then keeps bellowing out commands.... "PUT - THE - KICKSTAND - DOWN." "GET - OFF
THE - BIKE."
I was ready for the next one....... "PUT YOUR HANDS ON YOUR HEAD" ...and this one too.
"WALK BACKWARDS TOWARDS ME!"

I've seen the show COPS, I know what's next , ......he grabs my right hand and puts it behind my back,....another cruiser shows up in front of me, lights ablazin. I feel the CUFF slapped on me, then the
left hand goes down, ditto the cuff. He says...(before I could really decide to ask),..."I'll tell ya what this is about in a second, right now we want to check things out".

I tell him, "I think I know what this is about, and I'm not concerned".
He sounds real inquisitive and says, "really, what do you think this is about?"
I say, "I think, that YOU think, this bike is stolen. He says,....."that's right. You want to
tell us something?" (I see yet another cruiser pull in from the front side!)
I said, sure,.....my previous bike, a 9R, was stolen in May of 2001, and it had a custom plate. I asked Ohio BMV
if they would still let me have the plate and they said yes, and re-issued it to me for this bike,...which
you'll see is a **12R**. Different model, different VIN. I'm licensed, insured, endorsed, the whole she-bang. I'm sure when you check it out, you'll see it all. (not sounding cocky, just confident and assured.)
As matter of fact, I tell him, there's a large "RE" on my plate, denoting that it's a RE-ISSUE. (DUHH!)

He puts me into the back of the cruiser and I start listening to the radio as they're calling
in the bikes VIN number.
I start looking around to see how many cruisers there are and GET THIS, I saw a total of *** SEVEN *** different cop cars!! SEVEN! My God! You'd have thought they just captured Al Copone or something!!

One vehicle to my side was local and it said "Evidence Technician" on it. I thought that was interesting, what the hell do they need HIM for?!?!? I see an older man in whitish hair and a solid white dress type shirt on, thinking he's a captain or something, and sure enough, I later see him get into a local, marked TRUCK and it said "SUPERVISOR" on it. I've got the State
Patrol that pulled me over. THIS IS FOOKIN' CRAZY!!!!!

Do you know what I would give to be out on the main road right now?!?!?!!? I've got all the damn cops RIGHT HERE!! I could be givin' it HELL out on the main road, 4-5, maybe 6 gears at full throttle!!!! Awwww Man!! I sure hope someone is out there just givin it hell and taking advantage of this COPS-like episode I'm in!

They eventually confirmed my story, and said that the Dayton records still have the plate as being "stolen", and that I should call them and get that straightened out.
I was like, Yeah, Right, like I haven't BEEN TRYING, ..I just keep running up against a bunch of morons
who don't know what to do, or how to return a fuckin' phone call. (no bitterness here!)

So, even before he took me out of the car, the other cruisers started leaving slowly but surely.

After about 10-15 min in the cruiser, he finally got me out and de-cuffed me. Gave a meager apology, asked for no hard feelin's, and then tried to buddy up to me by saying "yeah, that's a sweet bike man", blah, blah, blah.

I'm thinking, "Oh yeah, which do you like better, the silver fender on a red bike, or those
SWEET scratches all down the right side???" :-/ Yeah, I think it looks like crap *to me*, and he just sounded
insincere.
I played it off though, chatted with him for all of 60 seconds and then he ended the conversation so he could roll out.

All of this about 1/2 mile from my house, but luckily, from a part of the platt that I'm never in, so, no one will recognize me! There were people coming out of their houses though, I did see that much! I'd imagine that when SEVEN cruisers are outside your door at 11:30pm, and theirs one of dem no-good, rebel 'sport-bikes' pulled over, that people's minds can wander a bit. Too bad for them that I got to ride away!

Ya gotta wonder how that all went down, I mean, were they all just sitting around, chatting on their radios when all of a sudden...."I've got me a live one here Enos!! It's a stolen SPORTBIKE!! LET'S GET'EM!!........C'mon Flaaaash!! Kyuuhhh! Kyuuhh, Kyuhhh!!"

'Dis is ROSCOOOOOE P. ColTrain, and I'ma gonna GITCHA'!

Let me guess, they didn't get your 9 back with the dude(s) that stole it, but they catch you with your new bike. Very efficient!

Better You Than Me!!!

They would have tried to make me a King, Rodney King!!! The last time I was pulled over they claimed my bike but fortunately I had my registration and sales receipt on me.

Cop Humor

While I was flying down the road yesterday (only 10 mph over the speed
limit) I noticed a cop with a radar gun sitting on top of a bridge.

The cop pulled me over, walked up to the car and asked me, "What's the
hurry?"

I replied, "I'm late for work."

"Oh yeah," said the cop, "what do you do?"

I responded, "I'm a rectum stretcher."

The cop said "What's.....a rectum stretcher, and what does a rectum
stretcher do?"

I said, "Well, I start with one finger, then I work my way up to two
fingers, then three, then four, then my whole hand, then I work until I
can
get both hands in there and then I slowly stretch it until it's about 6
foot wide."

The cop asked me, "What the hell do you do with a 6 foot ass hole?"

I simply replied, "You give him a radar gun and park him on top of a
bridge..."

The ticket - - $ 95.00

The look on his face - - PRICELESS

....War on Terrorist, BEGINS with out of control/ stupid cops?...puhleeeze!!!!...how trite of you!...don't even use a tragic Sept.11th catch phrase to equate your opinion of what bad cop behavior is (if you could even call 7 cops on one scene bad /stupid behavior) with terrorists activity as we know it to be...it just doesn't equate...in your wildest and paranoid fantasies maybe...must be you've never had too many good experiences with cops, huh?...I know there are cops who make bad mistakes and some who perhaps shouldb't be cops at all for walking the thin line between good and evil...but my opinion is that good cops who make bad mistakes and maybe lose their cool (haven't you?) are not like terrorists...they get punished, some lose their job and go to jail for unacceptable behavior and their own stupidity...but they're not your Sept.11 terrorist

NO TERRORISM!!!!

OK OK OK...

Sorry I used the word "terrorist"!!! Before September 11 I used that word to describe somebody wild, out of control, fearless, dangerous, on the edge, etc, etc.

Did not mean to start any flames!!! Still... I have heard rumors that "Big Al" from Dayton OH is a known HOOLIGAN... with that, that, that dangerous 12R!!!

...not you G93T...I was addressing ninja12's remark...anybody who knows me and how I am here, knows I'll almost always have something to say when bad stereotype or unfair comments about cops and the job they do start flying around...look, I'm not stupid about this whole cop vs us relationship...just know that there are a bunch of good cops here who ride like the rest of the enthusiasts...I get tired of hearing bashing like this (especially at a website where we all share a common bond...ZX-12Rs!!!!)...bashing belongs at the 'other' site ...and you don't neccessarily hear us cops bashing other people's chosen profession...most of us know the difference between good vs evil...just like we know the difference between Kawasaki Ninjas and HD V-Rods...its just my nature

I had a similar experience, but my previous bike had not been stolen and it just involved two police cars pulling me over. Basically the same scenario with loud speaker commands coming from the car that had me cornered in from the front (the other car was just about on my rear tire). Even though I probably wasn't doing more then 10 over the posted, I felt like I had 10 kilos of uncut heroin strapped on under my leathers.

I was so nervous, I damn near dropped my Arai while fumbling for my insurance papers. I was still shitting all over myself when the first cop had got out of his car and approached me. I was way too shook up to look and see what the other cop was doing and by this time, I figured I'd be shot if I had made any "questionable moves".

It turned out to be a friend of mine. His buddy in the other car patrolled the same district and been wanting to see the bike that my friend had been talking about. I figure that when my friend saw me go by that afternoon, he radioed his buddy and the decided to use side roads to "sneak up" on me and pull me over.

That was it. No speeding. No stolen bike. Just a couple of cops on a boring Sunday afternoon in the middle of a deserted downtown deciding to have some fun at my expense. Almost everyone I tell this to says they would be so pissed off. They don't get it. In my business, I with cops on a daily basis. Like any other group of folks, some are dickheads and some are not.

In this case, one of them was already my friend. Now, both of them are. Not only do they know what I ride, but they also know what I drive. If I see either one of them sitting there with their radar gun, often I'll stop and chat with them for a while. Other times I wouldn't see them till it was too late and blow by them doing well above the posted. Either one of them would usually just shake their finger at me or wave. If they are really bored, they'll pull me over and we'll shoot the breeze for a while.

Having friends like that is WELL WORTH getting the shit scared outta me for a few minutes, just for their "entertainment". In the past 5+ years, I've been pulled over 29 times. Each time I was without a doubt, guilty of violating one or more traffic laws. I currently have a clean driving record and that's probably due to the fact that half of the officers, deputies or troopers that pulled me over are people I also call my friend.

just heard a little story last night about an aquaintance up in pemberton (i spent a very drunk nite there). he's on his way to to his apartment, walking thru the complex, when 4 cops give him the old "freeze!" upon someone pointing him out. all 4 pulled their guns, one of them very nerviously apparently. after the usual roundup, they finally relaxed and told him what the hell it was all about. his neighbour above him called the cops sayin he had shot 3 rounds in the air, right by their appartment. of course he doesnt even have a gun, and noone in the entire complex hear the mystery shots. suffice it to say buddy isnt to happy about the episode. at the very least, they should have to wash his shit filled undies :o
