D&D Slip On results...

A few weeks ago I received a D&D slip On. I put it on and rode about 50 miles. I had the feeling that I perhaps had lost something on the lower end so decided to sell it.

A guy was interested in it but asked me to mail it COD & I agreed until I found out how much of a hassle that was.

I figured it would set in my shed until I either threw it away or gave it away.

I have since put the D&D back on my 02 ZX12R twice & the results are convincing since I compared the experience with another rider.

First of all my idle went up 100-150 rpm's. The bike lost its long leganess (is that a word) especially in first gear but the REAL DEAL is on the top!!! In sixth gear the roll on from 70 mph to 150 mph is AWESOME!!!

I am considering taking the cat out as it looks very easy to do....

My last D&D was on a VTR, Superhawk. I like the sound . I notice that the end of the CAT that you can see looking into the exhaust is cherry red HOT> Still debating whether or not to remove the CAT or just put the stock pipe back on.

I have a yosh bolt on and I decided to leave the cat in only because if you take it out then you will notice that the bike "pops" on down shifts. There is a cure for this, and that is to remove the "kleen air" system or re-route it, I'm not sure exactly what that entails, (cuz I haven't done it) but I believe someone here can tell you.
If you take it out please report on how much more (if any) gains you noticed with just a bolt on, and how the bike acts/sounds with the kleen air still operating or by-passed.

I find that a screw driver, a hammer, and about ten minutes is enough time to examine the cat thoroughly. On the bikes I have examined I have not noticed any backfire issues etc. Only when putting on full systems have I seen that issue. And Muzzy sells block-off plates to cure that.

Remember this though the idle will go up as the bike breaks in... dramatically. Thiese things dont even run good till about 6000 miles and it keeps geting better.
