Speedometer question...
Lets see who has the answer to this one.
I have an 01 ZX12 with the 180mph speedometer.
I just purchased an entire instrument cluster(speedometer/Fuel Gauge and Tach) from
a 00 model with the 220mph speedometer.
If I replace my stock 01 unit with the 00 unit, will
I still encounter the 186mph limit??
Thanks in advance

I think it will cause the limiter kicks in according to speed. I'd like to replace my gauge face though

you would still be restricted and would need a yellow box to recalibrate it for the 220 speedo. When I talked to the mechanic at my dealer he said that there are other things that would need to be changed (i think he said the vehicle speed sensor but if you had a yellow box i dont see why you would have to change out the VSS) and he said that it would be a lot more $$$ than it was worth.

sorry I wasn't clear sleezy, it's been a long day!LOL. The bike is restricted according to the speed itself, not the speedometer. You could have a speedo that goes to 500 mph and it would still shut the bike down at 187. The bike has to be derestricted per Muzzy's Bonne Box. Good luck, I'm getting one

the bike can just as easily be derestricted with the yellow box.
