If a second bike is out of the question, then it's time to have the wife sit down and get honest. Is she nervous because of your get off?Ask yourself if you were going too fast with her on it.She might have liked it before and is now spooked by your experience if you go too fast. With that sprocket, you may be jerking her around with any on and off throttle play which can scare the shit out of ya.Have you ever rode on the back of a bike?Holding on is not the same as having the handle bars in your hand.Oh and by the way, glad to see ya back riding after a get off!

the 12 is the worst bike for passengers i have ever owned.

I don't think there is a solution other than getting a different bike.

sorry to be a pessimist.

IMO the only thing the 12's passenger pegs are good for is to strap it down on the dyno.

if you get it to run smoother it might help. maybe have the seat(s) redone with a gel padding?

my ex wife did not mind it we even went on a 150 mi each way vacation ride. my practic was above else do not do anything sudden with the throttle. i would just lean on it a tad to pull out then go directly to second so i could accelerate less aggressive to her. my girlfriend flat out does not like riding on it much. i have a aftermarket grab bar for the passanger to hold on to. it works best for stopping and them not comming forward alot. i have a old 80 gs1000g for two up. next 2up bike is the new 14connie. good luck

i put girls on the back of my bike all the time. Best thing to do is find a way for them to feel comfortable. This however isn't the most comfortable position for you, haha. I sit farther back on the seat instead of up against the seat. Have her wrap her arms around you and with one hand grab the opposite wrist. with the free hand she can brace herself on the tank under hard braking. Also, i've found accelerating slowly is key. no backrest means bumping helmets when you shift lol. I usually take the bike to about 4k and close the throttle smoothly then shift with the clutch. its easier to control any jerkiness. Mind you i usually up shift without a clutch when im solo. and i prefer it greatly.

Also recommend to her to squeeze with her thighs. With a combination of things on you're part and a few things on hers i've found the 12 to be a decent passenger bike compared to other sport bikes...
