a couple of simple questions!
Hello all,
I just got my ZX12 2000 two weeks ago. I don't know what the up keep schedule was for the previous owner. So I'm going to do a oil change. I was wondering how much oil goes in the 12 and what kind do you suggest?
I was also interested in wiring a liscence plate light. when I opened the tail I have no idea which wire would be for the plate light. Could someone take a look a lend me a hand?
Man this bike is a beast! I used to ride a Gixxer 1100 and this bike is a completely different league!
Thanks in advance!

I use 3 quarts with a filter change and then make sure the oil level is just above midline on the sight glass. As far as oil choice, thats pretty much a personal preference. I use Motul semi synthetic myself..

Motul e-tech 100 10 w 40! Remember the heavier the Oil the less HP it will make and the SLOWER it circulates when Cold! Motul 300V is possibly the best OIL out there but Cost like it is also at about $12 to $14 a Quart. The E-Tech 100 (Between $6.95 to $8.95) is a 50 / 50 split and the Ester (300V is made with) and the Pao which is the 50% of the Syn part of Tony's Oil Motul 5100 (Which cost between $4.95 to $6.95 per quart)

The cheapest place I can find oil and I order enough to get free Shipping I see all of the Oil is up about $2.00 per Quart
All of these oils are MORE protection that you will ever need!
The 5 w 20 will make the most HP but that is a little THIN for the street! The only problem I found with Mobil 1 was it was SOOO Slippery that it drains 100% back to the crank case in a few days and the start up is noisy for about 2 minutes while it gets fully circulated!
