Running warm in town! Is this normal?

I just got my 2000 zx12 about a week ago. I ride with a friend who has a 2000 R1. I noticed my 12 seems to heat up and trip the fan while in town a lot more then his. Is this common for the 12? fluids are all correct. It does not over heat but it does seem heat up a lot. Thanks in advance

Should be OK. It's not uncommon to run pretty high on the gauge, but shouldn't puke coolant.

Thanks! I was really worried about it. It sounds like it idols high but it's at 1000 steady! My friend has a R1 the same year and the 12 is much louder and seems to like the idol is higher. But it reads 1000 RPMS!

I've notced a bit of difference using Engine Ice coolant. I rarely hit the 10 o'clock position.

Run a 75% / 25% De-ionized water to Dexcool ratio, with the correct amount of water wetter.

It will consistantly run 20 degrees cooler overall.

Oh! and also richen up your idle and low rpm sectors on your map (If you have a PC). This will allow the engine to not be so lean.

My '05 ran pretty hot as well....I switched over to Amsoil, Engine Ice in the radiator, added a PC + Akra pipe, and hooked a toggle switch up to the fan so I could kick the fans on BEFORE it got hot...All that worked really well..
