Inner Fairing Screws??
Hello all. I'm trying to remove the inner fairing to replace the stock turn signals with some After Shocks but the screws just keep turning. What's the trick to removing these? Thanks!

Yes those things are useless. If you have the side panels off then you can get behind them with the edge of a flat blade screw driver to press against it whilst simultaneously unscrewing it. When you get some thread showing just lever it out.
Then make sure you don't put them back. The smaller versions that fix the side panels to the ram air covers are better alternatives.

Thank you shiggsy!
Next dumb question... can you remove the lower (side panel) without the removing the inner fairing screws? The service manual says to remove them to prior to removing the lower fairing but is there another way to skin this cat?

You don't have to remove the inner fairing (at least not on mine a 2001 A2) to get the side panels off. Futher down below the crappy plastic screws there are some metal ones that screw into the side panels. Once they are out the side panels can be removed. (On mine I never put them back in.)

Thanks again shiggsy! I'll go give it a shot now. BTW, mines an A2 also.

Aaarrrggghhh! Got all the screws removed except for the inner fairing ones. And I still couldn't get them off. I didn't want to force anything and probably wasn't doing it right. Guess I'll take it down to the shop and have them take it off and watch them do it so I can do it next time. Or maybe someone in the West Phoenix area can show me how to do it? Thanks!
