1270 Map
Will someone share their map for:
Y2K 12R
K&N airfilters
Muzzy 1270 kit
Any help would be a good starting point.
Thanks

No...this is my daily driver...
I usually race on a 2 mile stretch of road and I run it to redline in 6th. I don't do any 1/4 mile racing or really any other type of drag raing. Top speed is the word for us....

Well then you for sure should get the pump so your system won't starve for fuel at high speed running out 6th! A pump and mapping are cheaper than a piston kit rebuild.

You know I had spoken with the shop and they said that the pump was a good thing but that since it was only the 1270 kit the factory pump would do the trick because I was going to be under 200hp. They told me that I'd have no choice if I went with the Muzzy 1375 kit but that I should be fine otherwise.
Now I'm 270lbs (300 in full gear) and personally I don't think the bike has enough HP to hit 11500 in 6th with me on it much less redline. But the question remains...under these circumstances...is the dreaded fuel starvation likely?

My 1270 kit is anywhere between 190 - 202 h.p. depending on the dyno.
Keep in mind....That's w/o Ram Air!
My tests revealed that you get .9 lbs boost over ambient (static) and close to .5 lbs over ambient at speeds over 150 m.p.h.
KHI's estimate of 8% more power on Ram is very close! Even if your 1270 makes "only" 180 h.p., on Ram that's an extra 14 h.p.!
On mine at a low 190, we are talking 15.2 h.p. for a total of 205.2 on Ram.
Do you realy want to flirt with disaster?!? I burned a piston with my stock engine with close to 180 h.p. on a high speed run, pulling strong in 6th. A cool a.m. with over 30.00 in. of mercury on 91 pump! That's why I now have the 1270 w/ the Muzzy pump....cheap insurance.
I will be glad to share my current map with you Heavy, however it would be too lean for your current application.

i didnt bother getting the pump, im close to 200rwhp w/ 1270cc. my question is, is the 12 getting shorted of fuel at WOT and high rpm aggressive riding below 6th gear?

No. However, your duty cycle will be up on the injectors.

You have no margin for error (or extraordinary air as Psycho found out). That pump is really cheap insurance and your injectors are REALLY working without it.

Does that only apply to the 00 models. How about the 04?

I found the answer to the question....
I forgot that Muzzy has maps and will email to you upon request. I contacted Dave and sent him my specs...he sent me the map. Really easy and saves me that $300 dyno tuning. I will wait until I get my new Muzzy fuel pump before I consider the dyno. I wouldn't think it's going to cause me any grief because if Muzzy doesn't have the right map who would. All of my upgrades came directly from them...

Heavy ak, keep in mind that Muzzy has maps for a bike with your modifications, BUT its not a map made SPECIFICALLY for YOUR bike.

Yeah...that little detail is what is nagging at me to stop being cheap and "Get R' Done!"
I can't do anything about it until July anyway so I'll just play it by ear.
The question for me is how long should I break the engine in? The kit says to vary the RPMs for the first 100 miles... How many miles is really recommended to have it broken in right?

Ride it "normally" for 3-5 hours. That is, don't beat on it, don't over heat it, don't make any top speed runs. Just ride it like it's a commuter bike, vary the rpm, vary the load and gradually up the ante. After you accrue 3-5 hours ride it as hard as you're going to for a few minutes, change the oil and filter, give 'er a good look over and sleep well.
There are "two" maps, one with the pump and one without.
Look, obviously no one is telling you you must get the good pump, but I will STRONGLY URGE you to pick one up.

Yeah I have pretty much decided that in July I will be adding the Muzzy pump and getting the bike on the dyno. I can't get on the schedule until then so I'm just going to keep it under top speed until at least after I get the pump installed.
I'm thinking that changing the pump will cure 2 problems....
the top speed thing with the 1270 kit
the fuel level will work again because the new pump should come with a new sensor as well.

The sensor doesn't come with the pump. Go to Kawaski.com and search your serial number for service bulletins & recalls. The bad sensor was, I think ,the subject of a recall and you should be able to get it replaced for free.
