Bike issues after valve check (Very Long post)

Hello,

I took my bike to Chicago Sports & Cycle for a valve job, now I'm having issues starting my bike. Went to pick it up and tried to turn her on, just cranked without firing, Had the tech come out and he's trying to start my bike and saying he doesn't know what the issue is. He just had it running. He took off my left fuse and fiddled around with some wires, bike starts up. He was saying it might be something with my ignition wires. I tell him nope, didn't have any prior issues with that. Something told me to turn it off and try to restart it, but didn't because i needed to get to an appointment. Later that day I tried to take her out for a ride, it just cranked. And usually when I click the cutoff switch on (after turning on the ignition switch) I could hear the pump/relay whine or communicate. I heard nothing. So, I had her towed back to the dealership (stealership) and explained to them I had no issues whatsoever with starting my bike prior to the valve check. So I left it with them to rectify this issue. That was Saturday! The first time I called, they couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start. The next time I called they said they got it to start by turning the handle bars to the right Confused That was really weird. That to me meant there was a short or something not connected correctly. Every time I called for a status, the shop manager states they aren't having any issues starting it. It cranks and fires every time, but they will keep looking and try to duplicate the no start issue.
Prior to me contacting CSC again about the status of their research on my bike, I spoke to two individuals who know a bit about the 12. Wish I knew to contact them before I took it to CSC. One of the guys said if I had some starter fluid he could check to see if it's the fuel pump. The other guy said it could be the pump, pump relay or my ECU. Both individuals previously assumed it might be the pump or the relay because when they tried starting the bike they didn't hear the pump relay noise you normally hear when hitting the cutoff switch. I explained to them I know sometimes those things can just go out without warning, but why all of a sudden it happens at the dealership? I told them while CSC is looking at my bike again, watch they come back saying it's my pump or the relay.

Ok back to me calling CSC today (Tuesday). When I called earlier in the day they still couldn't figure out why the bike is starting with no issues. So before I left work I called again. Status is still the same. So I asked him has anyone ridden the bike. He Said no. I asked could he ride it a little bring it back, turn it off wait a few seconds and try starting the bike again. He said ok and of course he didn't call to tell me anything. Sooo, I call again when I made it home before going there to pick up my bike. Now the bike won't start and he said they are tracing it to either, the fuel pump, relay or something else. I explained to him, I had NO starting issues prior to the valve job, but let me know what they fine. I personally think they are trying to get more money out of me. And I personally think hadn't actually started it at all. Until I asked him to ride it.

I called back and asked for the corporate number and they patched me into the District manager. I talk with her and she is going to look into it. If they come back and say this is a totally different issue, I may have to get my lawyer involved. I could be way off, but this doesn't feel right to me. Reason I feel the way I do, after picking my bike up from them the very first time, I rode it to work, found out the leak I had with the valve gasket was still there, and they neglected to tell me they didn't replace the gasket like I asked because it wasn't in stock!!! They some how had one in stock that same day, so they installed for free. So when I go to pick her up, that's when the no start issue started. So it was after they actually put the gasket and silicone on like they were suppose to. Leading me to think they didn't even check my valves. I'll see what they tell me tomorrow. They are closed now

Blue,

Very sorry for long post. Maybe some one had this issue before

I had an issue something like yours a couple mo ago

It was a smashed wire on the rh side near where the clutch & throttle cables & R fork tube are. Turn the bars all the way to the right and it would blow a fuse, die.

First, I would NOT take it back to them for anything! Doing the valves is a real PITA! The unfortunate thing is you sound like someone that could not do this yourself so this puts you at someone else's Mercy. It may be something as simple as a loose connector that got pulled even more lose when they worked on the BIKE.

My suggestion is to find out who around here lives in your area and where do they take their Bike and you take yours there.

Also, as frustrating as all of this is, It is possible for all of this to happen and no one has done anything wrong!

point well taken.

Who lives in Chi-town (Chicago) or the surrounding suburbs? Also if there is someone within my vicinity, has anyone heard of Valley Racing in Beecher, IL?

Thanks
