HOW DO YOU Shift Gears? #1 or #2?

#1, As you Roll off the throttle you pull in the clutch lever, Raise the gear change lever, Release the Gear Change lever, Let out the Clutch lever and Roll back on the throttle!

#2, As you Roll off the throttle you pull in the clutch lever, Raise the gear change lever, Let out the Clutch Lever, Roll back on the throttle, Release the Gear Change lever, !

To change the shift dogs and the drum You don't have to split the cases. After 70k km (45k miles) I had to change the dogs. Just remove the exhaust, oil pan and clutch. Couple of hours and won't cost 1000$. Mine has worked nice afterwards.

i think it would be cheaper to buy another complete bike than have it shipped from here from nova scotia im not looking for magic just looking for factory setup which i will have once I have a look at it.

tuusini thats allot of km's on that bike have you had many problems with it ?

thanks for the post on the fork seals that went pretty quickly I think I could change them both out in a few hours now. the ones I took out where after market only a single edge and spring on them . they only lasted a few months (i didnt put them in ) the kawi ones have 2 edges and springs and I suspect will last allot longer.

i did the r/r myself............r&d`s bill for my transmission was 750.00.where are you going to buy a nice zx12r for 750.00.i have been riding street bikes for 35 years and have never shifted a bike so smooth as my 2000 zx12r.my son is 21 and he has rode this bike around 15 times and his comment was it is the smoothest shifting bike he has ever rode. he has rode at least 20 different bikes.

Yes I meant the forks... Yes my ZX has lasted very well. Now on 105k km (65k miles) and only problems I've had are clutch plates on 54k km, gear change forks on 75k km and the clutch lever at the clutch end gave up at 90km. And one set of front fork seals also at 80k km. Those are the only mechanical problems I've had. Most of the miles have come on fast lane of autobahn and also this summer I'm looking forward to my trip to south of Spain. And of course a detour to the Alps... Other than that just oil changes and a lot of tires and gas! I absolutely love the bike even now after starting a 9th summer with it! And also this site has been very helpfull to me too.
