I am wondering the same thing. I have an 05' and they seem to be more like the 14 then the early model 12's. I want to remove mine and get it mapped but was wondering if just the plates are to be removed, or the plates and the shaft that goes through to twist. If this is the case, how and with what should the holes be plugged? thanks in advance.

I was going to compare the maps from the 02 and 03 models to the 04. It should be ok. I removed them and was going to try it out later. I figured that someone would have tried it by now.

I believe someone did remove the STB and reported no difference. I can't see how. If you remove an obstruction from inside the bores it could only help. Second I wwould think the engine would rev quicker..

I believe it does rev quicker. I just started for a while and it did seem to rev quicker, but I want to make sure its not leaning out.

So when you removed them, Did you remove the plates off of the shafts, or did you remove the entire thing, plates and shaft out of the secondary butterfly position. doc

Its was recommended by Brock to tune for the removal of the flies on the 14. I would assume it would be the same on the 12.
