I sometimes think that I "should" buy an 02'...but if the 03' comes out with a digital speedo and programmable shift light and flash to pass button and intergrated turn signals and more power and cool colors and is made lighter in weight, I think I'll wait for the 03'...or 04'

I think there is some wishful thinking here. With the limits put on the 12 and busa I don't look for a lot of changes. I look for the resources to go into the ZX10. If Kawi makes it, and it is competitive with the GSXR and R1 they will sell a zillion.

The other side of this equation is the rumors that Suzuki made phase the busa out. If that is truwe then Kawi has zero reason to refine and or spend more money on the 12. Combine all of that with the fact that they (Kawi) seems to not change things other than paint on the second year I think 03 will look pretty much the same as 02. And as with the 00 you will be able to pick up the 02 cheap because there are still some setting at dealers across the country!

Just my opinion! It was free and you usually get what you pay for!!

Oh yeah, the flash pass is that little button on the handle bar that you push to flash your lights as you pass people. Ala the autobahn. Pretty common on the European bikes. Ducati and Aprilia. The real reason for one on a 12 would be to convert it to a NOS actuator!! I would gladly trade the gizmo for better fasteners!!!

"flash to pass"...no, tuusinii, we don't have it here...i guess there's no use for it here cuz alot of idiots on our roadways do not have the same type of lane discipline as they do in europe..."flashing" will either get someone to move over or have the idiot slow down even more...go figure...

A closed loop EFI system would be nice.

Sport Rider magazine has basically announced the last and FINAL dying gasps are being exhaled from the 750 class. Of course, we've been hearing this for three years now, but since almost every AMA 750 grid has become a GSXR "spec class" with a sprinkling of Ducs and RC51s... I believe the time has actually arrived.

KHI will HAVE TO present some form of liter bike on the showrooms by the '04 model year. Maybe even a mid year release during '03 (what I'm guessing on). With any luck, maybe KHI has spent as much time on the 10R as Ducati has on their 999. Duc's 999 had the code name "1197" (or was it "9711"?) since research started in Nov. '97.

After all, it's been a "given" that the 750 class was going to "die". It was just a matter of when. Combine that with the facts that not a single R&D dollar (yen) has been spent on the P series since 1996, the "improvement" of the rest of the "R line" have pretty well been completed. The speed war is over and the rough edges of the 12R have been polished. The 6R is fairly trick now, but could use a little more "tweaking" (not much of a yen drain on the sport R&D budget). The 9R is... well, it ain't gonna be the "one". Though a great "real world" bike, the public reads too many magazines. Even though it whacked the Honda (GASP!) in the latest comparison.

KHI has been rather quite for a long, long time. After a series of embarassing PR gaffes, having almost a laughable presence on just about ever 750 venue, nationally and internationally and being sent home with it's tail between it's legs, only to be greeted with major economic woes in their other major industrial divisions... one can only wonder. Is the party over?

Naw, it ain't over. KHI would have just pitched the whole CP division over to Suzuki if that was the case. Even though it almost looks like that's the way it's going, there might, just might be a "surprise" up the ole lady's skirt. "Kaw-zilla" got spanked and sent to bed without supper. NOW, the bitch is hungry and PISSED! It's payback time. KHI has not forgotten it's glory years and what would be the "cheapest" moral booster for a depressed manufacturer? Have your most publicly visible division come from nowhere and kick some major ass!

"The bitch is hungary and pissed" !!

Thats a good one red!

I havent gotten much dirt on kawi this year. Kinda lost the info source. Last year the word was "concurrent engineering" of the new bikes. So expect at least two bikes to share the same platform.
This year I've heard some talk about a reverse flow cylinder head. Not shure what application.

I actually get more honda dirt than kawi lately. Closed loop is closer than you think for Honda. I heard that "...honda has started the transition to closed loop..." so at least one in the line up will have a full closed loop FI system. I'm betting on the xx. Its getting a new head with bigger valves and there is a boss machined around the intake valve spring. It doesnt look like my 97 head at all. I have never seen the VFR head up close but it may be for a similar valve actuation setup like the VFR.?
I tried to get (tried to bribe)a photo of the plastic on the new xx but NG. I did see a new color (plasma maybe?)dash display. It looked trick and had some kind of port on the side of it.?? usb2.0??? It looked more like somthing for the goldwing. Maybe gps?? Maybe a port to tie your lap top into for surfing the net? Who knows.

I read about the 03 6R a while back; I forgot all about it.

Someone on this board should take their camera to get live secret photos of the 03 being tested. You can do it!
