Finetuning of Powercomm.
Those of you who have raceexaust and powercomm - Did you notice a big difference after getting the powercomm finetuned on bench?
Have any of you tried other maps than Powercomm.com recoments for your exaust/filter?
My big problem is there are no real experts on finetuning here where i live!

The best thing to do is search the PowerCommander web site for a map that is close to your pipe, air filter and other mods. They have lots of maps there so if you find one that is close then use that as your "starting" point.
Fine tuning then really takes some real world setup .......

I wrote something about doing this for Starters! By Marking the Throttle Grip with a "V" Notch and then the housing aith 0% (Slack taken out) and 100% then 50% 25% 12.5% (Close enough to 10% then 6% When you are riding and feel a problem all you need to do is look down and see the thottle Position and rpm and "Remember" it and change the mapping at Home! A little at a time and you will have a SUper map for your bike!

I COMPLETELY AGREE
A map that has been created via actually riding the bike will always be better......in the days of old this is how we used to fine tune carbs

How about taking it to an experienced dyno operator with a the Tune link software and an electric brake on the dyno. They are listed on the website, but it will be more difficult to see if he is experienced.
This is the only way to make fine adjustments under load for your exact combination. I know a guy in Daytona that does custom maps for $225 - $250.
If you drive far for a dyno, think about altitude, temperature, and humidity.

The problem even with a load Dyno and as careful as they can, they cannot map for every possible Throttle and load Conditions that YOU WIll experience!
Kaz, I NEVER Thought I would see the day that I would Curse a set of Carbs and WISH i had FI on a motorcycle! Now a lot of people cannot tune carbs because they do not know the overlap points and what % of effect they all have on each other! WHen I tuned the carbs it would even get down to the Height of the Needle Jet Choke

I tune on the street. Last summer (ZX14) I started out with a muzzy slipon map....dyno'd it, 171 rwhp SAE, and the dyno guy said he'd leave it be...but I made many changes over the summer. Drive ability improved greatly.
I carried my laptop in my backpack to work with me almost everyday. At lunch time, I'd go cruise around, and make slight map changes. You CAN tell if you made a good or bad change. I also learned where my THROTTLE position was on the grip. MOST important positions are the lower positions, 2, 5, 10, 20, 40%. This is where you drive the bike, and surprisingly, 2 and 5% throttle positions are used MOST of the time!
I am currently going through the process again with full exhaust. I am trying various pre-made maps, looking for the best drive ability. That is the map I will take to the dyno. It is still cold outside in the mornings, like 34F!! Riding at 45F, the bike runs good, but still rich, tailpipe is black!
Once a dyno map is made, I am sure I will be tweaking it!

the powercommander.com map i used sucked ass, made the bike run like it had brain damage. i'm at too high of an altitude for it to work right. i went to a local shop with a dynojet 250i (has a load cell and an o2 sensor on it) and gained 5hp up top, and 8hp in the mids. thats how far off the map was! you might as well try a web map to see if it works, but if its acting up, head to the nearest shop to get it tuned.
