OK guys solve this one.....

I need some opinions.... When I rap my bike out as say on a dyno in the upper rpms I am getting some Black smoke...
Rich????
We checked the air/fuel and it was a hair over 13 to 1...... More like 13.25.. The shop told me air /fuel is fine..... The line was fairly straight across.. When you let off at redline get some flame/backfiring like unburnt fuel.... Kleen air is gone and crankcase vent is connected where it used to be...Suggestions???????? Possibilitys of what it could be..
Muzzy pipe and was dyno mapped with sniffer... Thanxxxx Guys..

sounds like fun...

still sounds like rich problem..

maybe real slight and it may be small part of range that gives the problem that it may not register on the sniffer before that part has gone by?
(ie rich at 1200-2000rpm, but goes through that range so fast it cant register)

i guess it would be nice to know how fast the sniffer can react to changes in the exhaust makeup....

o well..hope this may help or give an idea or 2 for other stuff to check...

good luck! and let us know what it is too

there's always the possibility that it's partly carbon, no?

I have seen your condition on several big bikes on the dyno, and like you, I always thought it was a little rich up top.

I thought you'd always get the pop and flame when letting off from redline,....the vacuum signal is very intense when you do that, sucking raw fuel from the intake to the exhaust during cam overlap. (or so I have heard/read)

I'll be on a dyno this afternoon and will look for your symptoms on my bike!

Testing an HMF, against the Muzzy against another pipe!
