lowering: shock length vs bones???

I have a Penske shock with variable length AND I have Kennedy adj links.

Q: is the effect on the bikes ride height the same if I adj the shock or adj the links???? I am particularly interested in the clearance between the track and the fairing pan AND the clearance between the rear tire and the bottom of the trunk and the tire.

It seems like before putting the shock on I used to scrape the tire under the trunk before dragging the fairing. Now I seem to drag the fairing and the tire is not hitting the trunk.?????

Could one of you suspension experts tell me how these 2 adjustments interact?

Thx in advance

Since the ratio of the lever arm between the dog bones and the shock isn't 1:1, there is a difference between the two.

Thx swft,
now when I look at the question, it seems I did not think it thru. It's a "dumb" question, added to the list of others I asked, but hey, Oldtimers disease is my excuse.
