ZX6R tranny help... look at these pix please...

Okay.... PK is having probs with her 00' 6R... it is getting stuck in first when stopped, unable to shift into neutral... also when bike is hot, sometimes gets stuck in neutral when shifting from 1st to second... I have watched this happen... when stopped at a light, when it finally does go into neutral, tranny makes a "whirring, spinning" sound like a turbo winding down.... dealer says "too bad" even though it is under 3year extended kawi warranty...

We just changed her oil, and looking inside oil filler hole you can see this bent metal tabe outside the clutch.... here are some pix... just what is this as it doesnt look normal.... or is it normal?

It looks like the big clutch nut is falling off not allowing the clutch to disengage. Remove that cover, remove the pressure plate and check that nut. Clean that metal out of there while the cover is off, drain the oil, fill with cheap oil run it a bit, drain the oil again and change the filter, refill with the good stuff.

what do they mean 'too bad'?...under warranty?...they should at least look at it and determine if its product or operator...then get a second opinion...what kind of after-the-sale service is that?????....the princess is not a drag racer, right?...she doesn't wheelie or abuse the bike, right?...she knows how to ride and use the clutch, right?....kinda' sounds like product to me, but what do I know?...the dealers act as if the Kawasaki product have ALWAYS been hassle-free...assholes....'too bad'???...that's an unacceptable answer, fish...

What do u mean tooo bad.??? Demand they fix it or have them put in writing that they refuse to fix and the reason. Document every call and every visit to the dealer. Get the number Kawasaki rep in the area and talk to him or her. Thats bullshit!!!! Almost sounds like Suzuki service..

I look at those pictures and it looks like there is metal grindings in there. That is why the oil change stuff. A clutch that doesn't disengage acts like you describe.

Have you called KAW Customer Service in Irvine, CA yet? "Too bad" they gave you a hard time! I'd start talking court, court costs, warranty reinbursement, internet flames, etc. You paid, they should at least look at it & give you a "reasonable answer." Why do I get the feeling we are not hearing the full story? Fish?

22348bCVC hit the nail on the head when he said: "they should at least look at it and determine if its product or operator...then YOU SHOULD get a second opinion."

Please elaborate what happened at the dealer; & are there any nearby KAW alternatives? You need a second opinion at the very least...

Go to another dealer, i've had the same type service before.
I went to the next dealership and was treated like royality.
I can't explain it, buy it good to know they are not all Di_ks.
God luck.
