Has anyone tried those HPX versions of Michelin Pilot Sports?

I have been doing some research on tires for the 12, and I came across the HPX version of the Pilot Sport tire by Michelin. Are the HPX Pilot Sports worth the extra money, compared to the standard Pilot Sports? Has anyone tried these out? I'm not racing, so will I really get any extra miles out of these compared to the standard ones? Quoting from Michelin's website:

• Evolved from the Pilot Sport, but specifically designed for hypersport bikes like the Suzuki Hayabusa, Kawasaki ZX-12 and Honda CBR 11100XX.

• Engineered with a particular emphasis on high-speed stability, The rear Pilot Sport HPX has been certified by European authorities for speeds up to 200 mph* (320 km/h).

• Special tread compound developed for sustained high speeds.

Yeah, their worth the extra money! Got over 9000km (5600 miles) with them and still plenty of thread left. It was mostly highspeed (>200kph (>124MPH)) but a lot of alpine roads too. Now I've using the second set of HPX:s and just got of from trip across Europe and now they allready have 7000km(4400miles) and most with two up and all the luggage(see my trip photos from thread called my summertrip). I think their the best tire you can get in 200 to sport tour. And they even stick well - also in rain.

I have a set on my 12 now, changing from the stock Dunlop 207's I've always been running. (2 fronts, and about 4 rears)

I think the Mich. Sport is better than the Dunlop 207, at least, I felt more comfortable when pushing them hard on the track yesterday! I seemed to get more feedback from the front, and didn't get the feeling that it was going to slip away from me like I got with the Dunlop on the front.

The HPX's are more designed for our heavier bikes and greater horsepower over other bikes. I don't think it would be a good idea to get "non-HPX" on a 12R or a Busa.

My only problem was that on the rear, I felt like the Pilot Sports didn't hold up as well at the dragstrip as the Dunlops did. Same kind of burnout's but I think the Sports on the rear only gave me half as much mileage as the 'Lops. (1800-2200 vs 3400-4000)

If you don't drag race, I'd say get those HPX's and you should be happy.

The 200 section tire is automatically a HPX. They are a far cry from the Dunlops. But they wear less for me. Never had more than 1800 on a set. There is still tread left, but it is all chopped up and cupped badly. At least the last 10 sets have been that way. As a matter of fact it is time for a new set along with sprockets and chain. I am thinking of trying a set of Pirellis. I need to research, not that I don't like the Michelins, I would hate to pass up what many have said to be really good tires.

tires again?

I appreciate your input on the tires fellas....I have thought about going to the HPX's, I currently run the Pirelli Dragons, and love them. I dont get the same milage wiht the Dragons as I did with the stock D208's, but I like the handling characterists of the Pirelli's. Am wondering what you all think about the new M-1 Sporttec's?
