Hi guys - still got charging problems..... I have used the bike a few times this week, and one morning it didn't have enough power to turn the engine over. I'm riding with headlights and no extra load. The Optimate says GOOD after charging, the alternator AC output is 115v all round, the rectifier resistances look correct and consistent. I don't have 3 12v batteries to check the regulator, but when the bike is running, I measure 14v at the battery terminals - down to 13.8v with everything I have powered up. It all looks good to me, but I still have this problem....

Can anybody tell me what resistance to expect from the neg battery terminal to earth? Or how best to test for current leakage? I'll whiz the battery to the dealer for testing later, but it's only about a year old. The terminal voltage today is 12.35v, from fully charged yesterday. Of course, I have the current sucking Datatool alarm system fitted.

Any ideas welcome...

More bloody pain. I just fitted a brand new battery - charged overnight with the Optimate. Put everything back ready to ride - SAME BLOODY PROBLEM. Starter motor won't turn over the bike, I get a relay chattering, the battery seems to be at 12.35v, clock re-set. Are there any known issues with the starter motor/ solenoid or whatever. I'm beginning to get very depressed....

Anybody got any ideas at all?
