Off Topic-- Best Digital Camera
I have a digital camera but I am in the market for one that records video/sound clips as well. Who has them, what do you like/dislike. And what is the best out there? I want to start recording some of my runs.

I have a Sony Mactiva.
It allows you to take still shots or up to a 15 second movie clip. Many size options so you choose the size/quality.
It is a great camera but there are a couple things that I did not care for when I switched to a digital..
1. It could be a little smaller but I bought this one because I can use floppy disks. This allows me to record for anyone and just give them the disk. I can also organize my pictures by just using a selected floppy. No upload to the home computer.
2. You can not take action shot's.
It does come with software so you can pull action shot's from the movie clip!!!!

I have both a Sony and a Nikon. Being a non tech guy my Sony has given me fits, where as my Nikon for some reason has been a lot easier to work with. Both have the exact same pixel quality, take the 15 second movie clips etc. The Sony is really biased towards using Sony perifials (computer, printer etc.) the Nikon does not seem to care.
The issue about action shots is crap. I have tried tricking them but no sucess yet.
The floppy disc idea is pretty cool. My daughter has that with her Sony. In my case both the Sony and Nikon use a memory card or stick. The advantage is with a 128 meg card you can take about 60 very high resoulution pictures on a singal card.
So if you run less then 15 second runs you can do it with either one!!

Canon G2, as near to SLR digital as you can get. Nice camera for 725.00.

I agree that the Canon series is the one that I have heard the greatest reviews of. It is one kick-ass camera, you will not be disappointed.
Don't forget that in addition to pixels and everything is "color reproduction". It's a shame that they don't have a rating for that! (at least not that I know of)
Canon G1 or G2, depending upon your budget and desire for 'how many megabytes'.

I can second the G2. Just got a microdrive for it. I highly recommend getting one, since teh 32mb card that comes with the G2 will only hold 17 of the highest resolution pictures. With the 340mb drive it holds something like 170 pics at the highest res and waaaay over 3000 small ones!

sony dcr pc100
bought it 2 years ago and it cost plenty, but i think the prics has come down a lot. it is very small, more of a mini dv camcorder then a dig. cam. but it takes great pics as well.

Sample of G2 pics in my amateur gallery... Just to give you an idea of what you can do with a nice digital camera around $700.

TeamSpeed, nice shots. I have about 6000 digital photos that I have taken over the past couple years. I'm an amateur photographer and I'd like to do a gallery as soon as I get the time.
Check out some of the shots on this thread, http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=1&TID=3761 and if you want to see some shots in the native format and resolution there are links to the 2048x1536 shots. They were taken with a Casio QV3500, it's a 3.34 with a 340MB microdrive. I wanted that capacity because I can fire over 200 high resolution shots without unloading. Everyone has their own criteria for a camera, price, resolution, size, etc.
Oh, another important thing is the software that it has with it too. The Casio photo loader is the best I've seen. Auto indexes by date with preview, thumbnails, java based review pages, all done just by plugging it in to the USB port. This is a sample of the autobuilt pages http://www.blackrainbow.com/daveindaytona/020516/index.htm
Happy Hunting,
Dave

At Muzzys I use an Olympus E-10. In addition to the product shots that you can see on the web site, I've taken some great general photography. For under $1500
it or the E-20 are pretty much unbeatable.

The D60 is a very nice camera, however, just be sure you plan to use all its features for the money. It fires off faster shots than the G2, has a quicker shutter speed, and accepts filters without an adapter tube. However, it is 3 times the cost but does not have 3 times the features. Check out the Canon forum and reviews over at www.dpreview.com before you make a final decision, great folks over there! Quite a few of them have both the D60 and G2 and can give very objective views on various canon cameras.
Dave, I really like the G2 for ease of trick photography, like the trio of my daughters in my gallery. I only have 1.... took about 5 minutes to make that photo and it looks great processed at Walmart! You have some great pictures for a 3M camera. One thing I think I noticed, are you letting the camera auto-focus or are you manually focusing? It appears that the Casio may have the same issue alot of Canons do. The Canons use horizontal lines to autofocus, vertical lines do not do much for the AF. Again, dpreview has reviews on the Casio and forums as well for your perusal.

The trick stuff is fun and although I like playing and doing the "artistic" thing I have to admit most of anything I do is dumb automatic point and shoot. I have a pocket 35 and a full body with tons of gadgets but the digital is about all I use anymore. I paid $600 for it back in November of 2000 and it covers most of what I want because it fits in the computer bag I travel with and I don't need to take anything else. If I had the need and the cash laying around I'd like to have another one but it seems that I spend more money on the things Doug takes pictures of than new camera equipment.
OK, now I got the urge to go camera shopping, the last time that happened I ended up with a digital video camera, I knew this topic would cost me money.
