custom mapping
I was wondering if id see a big diff with a custom map
bike has a bolt on yoshi rs3 K&N filter and a power commander 2 I think the serial port one. it has a zero map with low to high set close to the lean.
the 009 map on the power commander site is close to this setting except I think its a full yoshi
just wondering if it will make a big diff ( custom map ) and does any one know in nova scotia canada where I can get it done ?
thanks guys

what ive been lead to understand is that unless your running an AKRA you will do good by custom mapping a full system and of course you will need a PC the PC2 you have would require mechanical advance plate to play w/ timing,, i have one if interested,, also i dont know what year bike your refering to but if it is a 04/05 12r ,, i have a PC3USB at a crackhead price,, but that would let you play with the timing etc. as well,,
Im Sure Scott might chime in as he is from Canada and might be able to steer you right,,
hang tight and good luck... V

Im right beside ya in NB
unless you have a full system, dont bother with a custom map. you wont notice very much in power gains or smoothness. you could tune it a little lean for gas mileage with a custom map if you are just commuting with it, but the cost of the map would be a lot more than you save on gas...
if you are dead set on getting a custom map(or get a pipe and want to see some real gains with a custom map), check out

full system to notice real gains,, USB can work the timing also,, otherwise you need a plate if you have the older model PCs like the PC2 you have ,,you can gear it a little if your trying to get cheap performance! full system ,,filters ,,and a good map,, drop a tooth in front or go up in back.. and lay off the pasta LOL just kidding bro!
LOW 10s aint bad but that bike is capable of better!

I reserve the right to be wrong........pc3r was capable of timing changes..but I believe
Mr Hill saw erratic input and timming changes far beyond what one would consider desireable
PC usb is only capable of timming changes with added timming module
List price $355......It can be found cheaper on ebay right now......
Keep in mind that timming wont show big changes on a dyno....as far as Ive been told...
It will show an increase in rate of acceleration.....and will give you the ability to run higher
than 40 shot of NOS (ie youll be able to cut the total advance to an acceptable level.
I had spoke to a board member that was using the timming module with very favorable results for Maxton runs...........My .02

yea ,, you are correct,, all the threads ive read they use the plate unless they use the USB
i dont run a power commander (YET) so i have no use for it..

i run a power commander 3R. it will do timing too. i have it set at 3 degrees advanced. the stock headers are very restrictive. you need a full system to get real gains. adding timing helps a little, but a full system with a good map will show you a lot more(add the timing and you have a bit better)
what is your complete setup? in detail. we can get you MUCH quicker

I bought this bike from my buddy late last year i drove it twice speed said 335 but from what I read its off by close to 30 any ways its a fast bike as you all no he was racing it here in sydney all summer he put a hindle open header on it and went 16 on the front ( I drove it with the 18 in early summer ) any ways i put back on the stock exhaust and the yoshimura slip on / bolt on the PC2 has a zero map in it and she has K& N filters in it. It has 16 50 in it now for gearing think I might go 16 46 id still like a good top speed. these bikes are pretty nice ive been on bikes since I was 5 sold my honda vtr 1000 last summer and ive had 3 zx 7's but man this thing has so much power from 200 to 300 kph its amazing how much fast it is than what im used to. Im thinkin this bike will kill me before I kill it hahaah

16 50 would be wild with a street tire. with a slick, it would be ok for the 1/4 mile. you could actually go 16 55 or so with a slick to get all 6 gears in the 1/4 but you will need to stretch the bike and do some other stuff once you start getting decent 60' times. for the street 17 47 is a popular combo. you need a speedo healer if you do any gearing changes. my bike showed 215mph one time, but my gearing was changed for the 1/4 mile (i went for a blast on the road with track gearing) i was probly only doing 160. thats still about 260kmph pretty fast compared to cars

thats an handful of low end,, but if your tracking it,, like scott says stretch it,, myself i went to a 17 up front and stock rear wheel for street use,, and have found that it took too much off my top end,, i find myself reaching for another gear on the highway that aint there!,, so after some research with a gearing calculater ive decided that i want a 2:65 Ratio (17/45)
versus the 2:71 (17/46) where im at now and the 18/46 is a 2:56 i believe off the top of my head.. this combo will get me back a 1/3rd of my top end but i am still 2/3rd lower geared than stock,, Make sense?
still plenty enough for wheelies thru the gears..
BTW i had a bad crash (7 ribs,, hole in lung,, torn spleen,,and almost lost a big toe)
my brother just wrecked his about 8 months ago,, both bones in both legs,,pretty bad!
so yes they are capable of KILLING,,, B CAREFUL!!!! all about RESPECT!
