Swing arm affaire

Anyone has the specifications of a swingarm out of a zx7rr 1996 Vs The zx12's swingarm?

can swap it?

The zx12 at lemans's race was runing with a 1996 zx7rr swingarm ( shorter )

I just measured my ZX12 swingarm
-25mm axle
-its 10 1/8 inches wide (through the frame area)
-its 25 1/2 inches long overall.

If the ZX7 shock mounting area is slightly offset, then your in business.

I saw one today, and it looked very similar to the 12.
All I can say without actually measuring the ZX7s arm is that it is off set like the ZX12. You may be able to space it out with shims. Didnt bother to look at the pivot axle that runs through the frame.
Certainly you can find a used ZX7 arm for ~$150 or less.

If a 7's swingarm works, I can see some more changes coming to the 12!!!

No probs

But i'm trying to find more infos about it..
It seams to me also that they balanced the bike differently ( higher rear )
I just know that the 12 above is the best made 12 for racing... so i realy think that we can learn some good tips about it

With the stock swingarm the bike is 1440 mm and with the zx7rr swingarm the bike goes to 1410 mm...
The alternator is from zx9
Added an radiator from a kx kawasaki and touk off the fan..

I know that Yosh removed two *inches* from a Bus frame when they built their (highly unsucessful) F USA Bus. How many mm is 2 inches?

I guess shorting the swingarm 2" would make the bike a bear to ride on long straights! The wheelbase stock is ~56", I could imagine trying to keep it down with only 54"! Im sure it would be usefull on tight, technical courses or roads.

25.4 mm to an inch.

The real problem with the busa a a formula extreme bike was that it was underpowered!

They talk about how they were afraid for the 12 to be instable, but after many test the bike was very stable... of course with a want to wheelie mood but they said that it was a perfect setup....

anderstand something is that this 12 did the 24 hours race lemans but fault of a gas leek to the rear tire the bike went down and couldn't get back into the race again but the 12 was in 3 position and was getting closer and closer to the first ones...
Passing how many gsxr 1000's and many many others...
I realy think that they did something ameasing..
I have a immense respect for this team..

which year was this gozr? i remember the bike was doing very well 1 or 2 years ago & also went out part way thru (past half way i think), but i think it was due to mechanical or electrical problem.

Shortening the swingarm would take away some of the weight on the front, so it looks like they raised the rear ride height to counteract this. Can you raise the rear ride height with the stock shock?

You would have to shim the stock shock as it does not does not include a ride ht. adjustment option. Now my Ohlins does!!
