110% normal.
That is a hand riveted "master link", and a damn fine looking job at that.

look at it this way, its never going to come apart like a master link can (which is usually only from improper assembly tho)
you can safety wire a regular master link, but the rivit type, when done right, will never fall apart(any faster than the rest of the chain)

.......................or did someone rivet two pieces of chain together to make one length of the right number. So you will just be running two rivet sections. They might frown upon it at an LSR event, but just slip they tech guy a twenty and he'll shoot ya right through.

I do not think its that big a deal especially for $80.

master link, 2 types
1. clip style, sort of re-useable (I would never reuse a clip, never)
2. riveted, not reuseable

Both hold fine if installed correctly. Both have to have the outer plate pressed on.

Looks like some one bought a length of EK DVX2 and used the rivet type of master link to put the chain on. No faz mal, it'll work fine.

Just check that the pins on either side of the "rivet style master link" rotate smoothly. If they do, RUN IT!
IMHO

Makes more sense. I'll be trying 16/46 soon. Shortest gearing I've tried so far is 16/44. 17/49 is a bit steeper for sure. 3rd gear throttle wheelies?

yea after running the 17/46 for a while now,, ive come to realize that its just to steep for me,,i frequently find myself reaching for a 7th gear thats not there,, so i went to a gear ratio website,, and decided that i want to go with 2/3rds of the low end that i have now which means going to 17/45 it will give me 1/3 of my top end back so that is from stock (2.56)
to 17/46 (2.71) to where i want to be 17/45 (2.65) ration,, i think i will be pleased with that setup and still be able to have the wheel come up at will like the animal that it is,, the new billet setup is tits! thanx for all the help again! Vic
that 17/45 should work with a stock linked chain correct (116) ??
