power commander "red line"? 11500 or 13000
I was looking at a few maps tonight and there are 2 basic kinds i seem to have as far as the max rpm. type 1 "redlines" or better yet, stops at 11500 rpm. type 2 stops at 13000 rpm.
now thinking ahead about the RR extended ecu mod I plan on getting done, theres no question on which type i will use as my base map!
it still puzzels me though as to why some maps "stop" 100 rpm before the stock rev limit on our bikes, and why some go all the way to 13000 rpm.....

Well, first of all, the "11,600" number isn't exact. I believe there are very small variances one can have based on a number of variables. DM & others may be able to chime in.
Also, Dynojet just has those fields in, doesn't mean our bike can go that high. But keep in mind, if I'm not mistaken, the zx12 was revved to an actual 13,000 in pre-production phases and it spun to that w/no issues (apparently even valves springs were up to the task).
May be another reason the 12 in stock form can't seem to go past 196 in the real world.

Well when i have my ecu reflashed to set the rev limit at 12,500, i definatly want to be able to map that high with the power commander! (i realise that just because its mapped for 13,000 doesnt mean it will get there)

On all the ZX-12 (16bit) ECUs I've seen it breaks down like this...
rpm < 11,690 Injectors on
11,690 < rpm < 11,700 no change; if on leave on, if off leave off
rpm > 11,700 Injectors off
rpm < 11,710 Coils on
11,710 < rpm < 11,720 no change; if on leave on, if off leave off
rpm > 11,720 Coils off
The ECU only allows you to adjust those numbers up 12,700 but it also allow you to just turn off the rev limiter if you want to try that 13,000 test yourself

haha nooo :P ill keep it "down" to 12,500 Ill leave it to guys like Rob Muzzy with his own stand alone emu, blue printed motor and boat loads of cash to spin them that high.
after the holidays are over and everything has calmed down, ill have to get in tough with you RR for a reflash
