Thrust Washer?

i can t believe after all the questions and searching ive done on the forums that i never saw a post on the thrust washer being tapered,, is there any tricks on seeing it without complete removal of the clutch again,, it was sticking and creeping and not finding neutral,,i took it for a ride got it nice and warm,, then took the cable of and readjusted at both ends and the thing functions flawless thanx to all of you guys and your help,, it is an animal wanting to come up in second (w/ a 17 toofer up front) got it dialed and now this,, SO is there a way to peek at this damn washer and find out if it is in correctly and WHAT IS CORRECT?
thanx again guys! Vic

You have a PM! Most of the people never remove this washer so they never get into trouble! Others nay have made this mistake and never know it because the Oil and wear reslove it. A few like me see what I did and tell about it so that everyone will know what to watch out for!

sticking, creeping and hard to get into neutral is normal with a new clutch...What steels did you use and what springs do you have in there and are they new?

Crotch Rocket,, i went will ALL NEW (Except the Basket) Falicon Basket (Used but in excellent shape),,a 02 New Clutch Hub,, 12 Stock Fibers,, and 11 1.6 Steels Stock,, and i have 6 Brock Davidson Springs,, its Working awesome after a Moderate ride and when i got home i readjusted the cable at the Cover and the Lever.. and no more creeping,,(i can roll it backwards in gear) and also finding neutral isnt a problem!,, the Clutch grabs almost immediatley (about 1/4-3/8 of an inch out),, and to answer your question Entropy yes the Big washer behind the basket and oil ring gear,, i didnt notice it,, and i thought one of the 2 washers ie. (the 1 under the basket lock nut,, or the one between the hub and basket where tapered according to a post by Vince Hill,, but after researching i saw a pic of the Thrust washer in the online manual,, and that one was never taken off,, so i am set!
once again ,, thanx guys,, theres a new Clutch Expert amongst the ranks,, (i Hope) LOL
