The 1157 RED L.E.D. bulbs are fairly common at most auto parts chain stores and the larger truck stops.
Have you tried them?

ya'll stay away from the halogen 1157's, I had a a set of tem in my 01 ZX6R and it melted the plastic holders and shorted out in Daytona. This happened on my buddies Intruder 1400 as well.....later all Jim

I tried 'em too
The halogen 1157 15/50W, that is. It looked like I was braking all the time. Sure, they got brighter when I hit the brakes, but it didn't look like 35W brighter. I also learned that you don't want to take them out right after a day's ride either. Blistered my frikkin' fingers. They suck!

u should be able to get LED's at a local car parts store. but there r also TONS of places on the net that sell them. jsut do a search on google for "LED 1157". there is one particular model being sold bymany sites that includes 8 (i think) radially mounted LEDs to work with the original reflectors. it means the light is much less point source. certainly appears to be a large improvement over the regular LED bolbs. however, seems that ALL LED 1157 bulbs rnt all that bright. the only LEDs that seem to work well r the ones some bikes use stock.
