2.0s or 1.6s ??????????

getting some conflict on which is the better setup,, can we get a vote count,, i want to do this clutch and forget about it for a while,, Dave at Muzzys says the heat dispersion is better with the 2.0 steels,, but someone said to go with more 1.6s for increased stack height which will let my clutch last longer,, Help please thanx

I like the 1.6s better...Dont know how much difference in heat dispersion between the 1.6s and 2.0s???

With the 12 frictions and 11 1.6s the stack height is a little larger and with the oem 1881 clutch springs I get 100 DragStrip passes from that set up...Of course I use the 2002 clutch hub and redline synthetic 10-40 oil with a BilletBasket...

If you are using this for the street, it will be fine but make sure you try to not drag the clutch too much in traffic or slow riding...That will kill the clutch life!!!

Twista...The OEM clutch hub is better than the drilled hub from anyone!!!...The best part is that the OEM hub is $83...

All the Billet Baskets and clutch hubs will work with each other!!!...Mix and match OEM, Muzzy, Falicon, Schnitz, APE, MTC...They are all the same!!!

Now when you change the friction and steel set up, then change and mix the clutch springs set up, thats where you will get different clutch performance than other guys recommendations!!!

The other main factor is your style of riding...You first need to know what your style is, then you can set the clutch up for your style of riding!!!

Hope I took the complications out for you now!!!

easier to stack em all up, squeeze the stack a bit and use calipers to measure all at once.
get most of the oil off em first...

stack height should be 56.8-57.6mm
if its lower, you will go thru the same learning curve i did this summer and have to buy a bunch of extra parts
set it up on the high side so you wont have to replace anything soon, and its easier on the actuator arm. if its low, just take out a thick steel and add 2 thin ones. keep doing that as the frictions wear to keep it on the high side untill they reach the service limit.

Het scott,, if the stock plates are 1.6s,,(thats what i ordered),, wouldnt the stack height be the same,, or does it depend actual castings of the plates,, those japanese are pretty good at consistency so what takes place to have the stack height differ,, just so i get a better understanding on how this thing functions,, thanx

as the frictions slowly wear out they get thinner. this causes the stack height to go down as the stack height is the total height of steels AND frictions

the frictions should be 3.22-3.38mm when they are new. and the service limit is 3.00mm
so if all the frictions are worn a SOME, but still well ABOVE 3.00mm (still very useable) the total stack height CAN be too low. this is when you add extra steels to build up the total stack height to prevent "bad" things from happening.
since you are planning on using the 1.6mm steels, when the stack height starts to get low, you could start replacing some with the 2.0mm plates to build it back up to the high side of the spec
hope this helps
