I think that is what you call collateral damage! When the rod snapped and parts started flying around in the engine! The rest is history!!

Ya know what's funny, is that the plates and fibers still look great! That's almost 10,000 miles on that set!

Well, the one part that has to be ok for a core refund is the backing plate, so I think I'm screwed. I'll have to call and see, unless Doug pokes his head in and takes a look at the pics. Doug? Doug?

The tranny bearings are fine. They didn't take any kind of a hit, other than the crank stopping suddenly. There was no damage beyond what happened to the clutch backing plate. Any shock felt was transmitted through the clutch. Following that line of reasoning, I might as well replace the cush drive, since it felt the shock when the motor stopped as well...

Swft.. for your info.... The engine was going back together this morning and early afternoon when I went by the shop. I would suspect it would be together tomorrow if all the parts and pieces are accounted for.

When I asked about the bonneville pipe for the silver 12, Mike said he needed a 12 to hang it on to establish the angle etc. for welding.

Obviously, the motor's not back together. Considering what the schedule is going to be like over the next week or so, I doubt it will be back together by the 12 October timeframe. Ditto for the pipe on the silver 12, as well.

I have a sinking feeling about Bonneville. Glad I didn't send in the entry fee this year, like I did last...

Fuck, it's been two years for me. One thing for sure, I'm getting tired of my shit getting shuffled back in the list of things to do everytime some racer comes up. I've seen every schedule I asked for slip, despite putting the money in beforehand, because of 'racer support'.

Swft, don't feel too bad about waiting, it happens to us all. My 12 has been being rebuilt since 6/9 & I will be just getting it back this weekend, hopefully. Just about everything has happened to me, my tuner/mechanic Craig Hansen broke his leg at Prostar, JE has changed the 1287 kit pistons, Falicon took twice as long as they said, & finally Kibblewhite has had the new valves backordered. One thing is for sure, WAITING SUCKS !!

Whoever is doing your work needs to be told, YOUR needing "racer support!" It did break in the middle of a race yes? Do you have any partial sponsorship from this guy? Got a sticker on the bike? He should take care of you; or lose your business...

You've waited long enough...

In the future, I won't be taking any more projects to him. One of the biggest problems in the Northwest is that there are very few qualified engine builders. The next closest place that I would approach with a project (like the bonneville bike) would be Muzzys, in Bend, OR.
