Question for Doug Meyer

I have a 91 zx11 and the tranny is popping out of second so its time for a tranny freshen up. I was wondering about the Muzzy 1195 wet kit for it. The bike spends most of its time bracket racing about 90 percent the other 10 percent it is ridden in the twisties. I was wondering how reliable the kit is and if it is an option for my particular usage or should I just go 1109 and be happy with that.I have bracket raced it since new and it has been very reliable I am not looking to get massive hp increases just keep it reliable and consistent. Also do you think the kiser oiling kit is worth the expense for what I am doing with the bike. Thanks for any help you can give me....................Kneeburner..

Im not Doug and dont have any experience with the 1195 kit but I can help you in the oiling department. I have been making my own bypass kits for over a year now. It is an internal kit but does the same thing that the Mr. Turbo kit does only a lot less costly. If you are interested drop me an email and maybe we can do some business. I also have a complete Mr. Turbo kit for sale if you are wanting a little more power.

Kewl I will keep you in mind if I decide to go with an oiling kit. The bike is mostly bracket raced so a turbo would not really suit my purpose........

A oiling kit is a good idea no matter what you use the bike for, especially on the C-models. My kit is so reasonably priced you would be crazy not to put one in. My new email is toprat@insightbb.com. Lets talk.

Kneeburner,
Yeah, I'm not on here much..... kidding. Sometimes it takes me a few days when I'm off at a race.
Anyway, two things- The 81mm billet block is perfectly reliable. They are used on everything from turbo street bikes, dwarf cars, mini sprints, top gas bikes, to Steve Rice's 500 hp Funny Bike. You won't be disappointed.
If you are going to go only with a bore kit, the 77mm 1080 runs better, lasts longer and makes more power. The cylinders are too thin on an 1109 and distort, causing blowby and oil control problems. This is why Muzzys does not sell an 1109 kit.
Regarding the oling bypass kit. Although we also offer this kit, it only addresses a minor part of the oil starvation condition in the 11 and is NOT a "fix". The primary cause of the bearing failures in 11's is low oil level. The engine is VERY sensitive to oil level because of the large amount of oil sent to the head and the limited drainback area. Do not expect to have a bypass provide any real insurance against bearing failures in an 11. The bypass does enhance flow to the crank but that's no help if all it's flowing is air.

Thanks Doug:
For the info I will probable go with the billet big block. I have dragraced the 11 for lots of years and the engine is still tight. I must have thousands of passes on the motor and have not had a problem. I am always careful to keep the oil level at the top line on the window I guess this has probably been the reason why my engine is still healthy after 11 years............Thanks Kneeburner.................
