Hmmm....Hot oil does not flow like "molassas".

Have you ever run a Trackday out here in Arizona when it's over 100 deg.? Even KHI recommends 50w at that temperature.

Do you guys that are running the Amsoil find the engine runs a bit cooler. I have a C90 Boulevard and people claim the engines run about 20 degrees cooler with the Amsoil.

Can't tell yet. Wont put synthetic in till next oil change due to still using dino oil at the 600 mile break in, Gimme 2 weeks and I should have some in . I hope so though the 14 does run hotter than I am used to. FYI, I ordered the magnetic oil plug. Gonna see if it actually catches anything.

Mine goes in for the 600 miler next thursday.... thinking of going to the Synthetic. I'll actually have over 700 on it when it goes in because they couldn't get me in earlier.

Amsoil 10W40 full synthetic motorcycle oil. Just put it in today. Didn't notice any temperature difference but it's really friggin hot here. Shifts a lot smoother than the dino oil that came out.

What's with the owners manual oil change intervals? If my arithmetic is right they're saying to change it at 600 miles then 6900 miles later, 7500 after that, 9000 after that and again 6000 later to total 30,000. What the hell is that about? How often should I change my oil? How about every XXX # of miles after the initial break-in oil change?

Dealer isn't a nitpicker and told me to go ahead and change it myself at 600 which I did. Gonna run Dino for 1K then switch over to synthetic.

I just wondered what the high mileage means and that it won't mess up my clutch

If the API label indicates "Energy Conserving", do NOT use it.
The friction modifier additives "could" cause a clutch issue.

Correct. No matter what brand you choose make sure it's a "motorcycle safe formulation" and not cage oil. Not that they might not be the same, but some are not ,so stick with the ones labeled for M/C use or that you know are safe for M/C use.

Go to Amsoil and become a preferred customer. If you have other vehicles it is definately worth it. They have a 25K Synthetic oil and filter I use in my auto's. Pays for the membership after my first change on 3 vehicles and bikes

It means it's for old high mileage cars. Don't use it in your bike.

Alright, I need to change my both my bike's oil soon, what's best for the 14???...performance-wise...I might splurge a little if its worth it. I'll just take the oil currently in the 14 and dump it in my 250. Someone said that once you go synthetic, its bad to go back...

Motul 300V. This stuff is noticeably better. Especially with shifting. Try it. If you don't think it is worth it there is always another oil change in several thousand miles! I would bet though, that you would not go back!

switched to the synthetic motul 300v at 3900 miles after running dino motul 3000 before. really smoothed out the shifts, feels like it rolls out better. motul or amsoil synthetic after it is broken in, you can't go wrong

+1 I use this as its cheaper than most other brands of Oil, and I change my oil so often it really never has a chance to break down. my oil never lasts more than 500 miles in the bike, usually its not more than 100 miles....
