The old 12 has a stable mate.......
Just rode home on a new blue 14, made the mistake of riding my son Zacks 14 all day yesterday and felt great after a full day in the saddle.
Now it's time to get busy making the 12 fast, of course there's the turbo ZRX to finish.......So much to do and so little money!!

In your case "TIME"!! You may be retired, but you are always on the GO! DO not get caught up looking at the MPG Guage and all of the other Car like things on that 14! Reason, it does ride real smooth and you may forget that you are still on a motorcycle and fall down at the stop light when you forgot to put your feet down!
You are just a Bikeacholick!!
Even better than the ZRX??

hey Dan,
congrats on the 14!
Ride it around a while before buying the Zx10. You KNOW you have to have a 10 to complete yr stable.

When it comes to bikes, I don't know if my KLR isn't the best bike I've ever owned. Just got back from two weeks in the Rockies and it was so cool to shut the engine off at the top of a pass in the middle of nowhere and coast down a trail sneaking up on bears, mountain goats, big horn sheep, etc.
Karl,
Chad has a ZX10R that he lets me borrow but I can only ride it for 20 minutes at a time! Father Time is catching up with me and this old body.
Vince........
As far as street bikes, I'm thinking a nice, reasonably stock ZRX would be hard to beat. I can see why you spend so much time on yours.

Dan,
that reminds me when i lived in Boulder late 60's, My pal Jan and I used to have coasting races down Sunshine Canyon; 2 lane asphalt, quite steep and very twisty. Him on his GF's Kawi 90, me on a Yamaha 125 enduro. VERY cool racing, no power, quiet and speeds up to 50mph?? We often passed cars while coast-racing. Maybe the most fun i have ever had on a motorcycle.
Ahhhh the memories, thanks for reminding me!

Dan, When you can do it, do it!! No one knows how much I hate to get up early and specially on a Saturday! Today I got up at 6:30 and was gone by 7:30 and rode out to Manassas Virginia to meet an AC Person (ABout 50 Miles ) and then left there and went to Seabrook Maryland about 70 miles away to church all on the ZRX and before 10 AM. it just plain feels good when I am on that thing! With ZX11 Cams, Airbox Mod (Big K&N Filter) Careful Jetting and the Prototype Step Hindle the bike makes 144 SAE HP and gets 40 MPG 70 to 90 MPH! Rail in the turns and easy on Peggy's Back! How can I complain??
