HEAD
Here's our head flow chart. Done in 2004 and going strong. Standard valves in use. hope the pics work.
at 1427, Muzzys cams and valve springs we go mid to high 230rwhp. Very tastey then with 150 shot of NOS!!!

I see you tested at 10"..... So to convert to 28" test pressure multiply by 1.67
So 150 cfm at 10" of water is 250.5 cfm at 28"
It also happens 1.67 is the cfm to hp conversion number.
There is about a 16hp loss from the engine to the rear wheel on a jynojet dyno.
233 rwhp + 16 hp = 249 crank hp / 4 cyl = 62.25 hp per cyl x 1.67 = 104 cfm x 2.5 (for average intake rate) = 260 average rate cfm.
Stock intake flow of 134 cfm(@10") x 1.67= 224 cfm @ 28"
Ported intake flow rate of 150 converts to 250 @ 28"
This is basic generalities but you can see patterns here right?
It gets real interesting when you work with detailed numbers on a real test head and engine and dyno the results and plot trends.

interesting shape of the hp curve from 150mph up.
Wolf,
do you have the rpm/hp curves???
BTW: Thanks much for openly posting yr results!
I guess i understand the secrecy thing which seems to be sprouting up here & there, but it is dissapointing never the less.

Yep,
I'll get some rpm/hp curves in the next few days when I'm at the workshop.
No secrecy with our own Wolf Racing ZX12 race bikes. We decided when we started our team that we would openly let popel know what we were doing.
Now, as for customers bikes mods and bits, no way. Lips are sealed.
The secrecy thing is what makes racing what it is though. Always good trying to guess and read between the lines.
Just so everyone knows though, what I print is exactly what comes from our own experiences.
You guys have a great site here and I've learnt some real good things here.
The curve is only upto 11,800rpm. We still only have the standard ecu onboard. The engine is made for 13,000rpm. It hits the rev limiter like jamming on the brakes!!
Old thing still has a lot left we think.

Karl, i may have numbers to post tonight. Gonna try and get those heads tested today.
We had too get 4 vintage SBF shelby engines done this week for this weekends races somewhere out west. There all finished now. I'll get Alex on those heads today. I doubt i can velocity map the ports today as well thou. But i'll try and post some flow numbers.

Wolf,
yr motor has a dip like mine only yrs is moved 500 rpm higher. Gotta be something to do about that dip, eh??
or
are you keeping it over-rich (12.4) there for spray???

Jim,
AWESOME that you were able to get to my big valve head with all the work you are doing!!!
I don't know how the 250 @ .415 compares to Wolf's head results??? Our hp curves look kinda similar (only his is higher )
Can't wait to see how Ryan's Carpenter head flows. Any guesses? Gotta be better than my shade tree head.
Man o' man this stuff is FUN!

also, can you say what lift cam you are using on the intake??
also, yr tq curve is VERY interesting; "normal" built 12's peak at 7900-8100, you have a dip there and double peak on both sides. Tq peak at 9000??? GREAT!! How did you do that???

Hi,
Cams are the Muzzys race cames. We also use the recommended valve springs and retainers. Standard valves. Brash seats and brash valve guides.
Lift is 10.2mm on inlet and 9.9mm on exhaust.
A/F is just the way it was in the room when we dynoed it.
Dip is wheel spin!!! And no, we can't seem to get that dip out!
It's a pig on the dyno. It rips tyres, spins and just is plain nasty. Monkey gets ready like he's going to ride a Moto GP bike!
Cheers,
Wolfman

wolf
thanks for the info.
Have you tried various Cam CL's to get rid of the dip??
I am gonna try & get rid of the dip inmine by big valve head and different cams. Great science fair project!

Karl and I chatted about it some when I went down to see him a few weeks ago...
anyway just say the word and I will ship it out! if you would like to see it...
I am looking for some photo's I know I have them somewhere? if I can find them I will post them up...
