power went out while ridding
i'm back,
i just got the stator wire fixed a week or two ago. i plugged in a power commander, but i don't have the software so i couldn't change the map( yet the light was at the lean side). after i got the wire fixed it would rev at about 2 when normally it would be 1 to 1.5 rpm , i had to play with the clutch to slow the rev down. it has been running a bit ruff in1st to start with then it goes. the other day i put 100 octane in to clean the bike out a bit since i had been using 87. well yesterday i was on my way to visit a friend that hit a pole while we where ridding (broke leg) and all of a sudden the power went out, the gauges are frozen at the speed i was going and nothing works. i took off the power commander, tried to give it a jump, checked the fuses on top by the gas tank, checked that stator wire and other wires to see if they melted........... nothing
so what is wrong ? tell me doc how bad is she.... are they going to put her down ?

odd to have it go so sudden. did you check the main fuse? it's in the battery tray. i've had a battery die COMPLETELY on me, when my charging system went, and it died gradually, with first the guages going blank, and a few minutes later the engine slowly dying. so your stator itself shouldnt be the issue (altho perhaps if the new wire crosse,d that could cause the fuse to go).

The fuse did blow for a reason.I would advise having someone look into this so you won't get stranded again. And the light being on the lean side on your power comander don't mean sqat.

I did not know that the Guages would remain in what ever position they were in when the Fuse Blew!! I learned my something new here also and something caused the few to blow and remember KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid). That stator Connector is a problem and has caused Fires and Oil leaks along with dead batteries and engines stopping!

well when i replaced the fuse i also took off the power commander. the f1 light has always been on since i bought the bike. i thought the light might be on due to having that blue gauge cluster and there where neon lights on it before that i didn't bother putting back on . i did see somewhere on here about the f1 light, but i'm not sure it'll go away
zx12mark i'm not sure what you mean by a starting point stored

if your ecm has faults you can bring them up by a history mode.past and current.use a service manuel to diagnose.
