definitly not typical, talk to the dealer. Should be a warranty item.

My 12 has always been very sure shifting, no false neutrals at all.

yeah it's under warranty. just finished a 150mile ride and it did again 3 times. even when i make it a point to shift hard. clutched it 3rd time and rolled to a stop. shop time i suppose. better than tranny locking up on me at speed.

I had one at 150+

I was cranked over in at turn when I went to TWO before the DG3 meeting.I'm not sure what gear I was in but it scared the shit out of me.I just pulled in the clutch and waited till I was around the curve.I thought it was maybe because I wasn't positive enough when I shifted.

Re: false neutrals

I occasionally get a false neutral but it is usually because I get lazy with my shift effort.

One thing I will say is I've never had a false neutral when I shift clutchless. Smoother than butter. -ZXtra

same here

I have had some false neutrals also, it seems to happen to me more often when I am at lower rpm's just cruising.
I agree with ZXtra and think it has something to do with lazy foot in combination with not enough backing off on the throttle.
The reason I say that is because when clutchless shifting I am always very careful to float the gears by lowering throttle and it works super smooth every time.
But when i'm using clutch at lower rpms i sometimes find myself not releasing throttle enough because its barely open anyhow.
I've had false neutrals in 3rd 4th and 5th so it doesn't seem to be specific to one gear on my bike.
oh, by the way, has anyone noticed the return throttle cable on their bike doesnt let enough slack out with adjuster fully closed for the twist grip to totally release to the stops.
I can get the proper free play at twist grip but only by slacking the pull cable and leaving the return cable taught.
are both cables exactly the same?
i'm thinking my return cable needs to be longer as the adjuster is maxed out and can't go smaller.
any ideas?

Ok, I will try rerouting the cable ra12r, it doesnt seem to be flexed wrong or anything.
I was wondering if anyone else noticed this on their bike?

This is an old subject and the people who listened before to me can attest that what I am about to say really works. I seems trivial but all you need to do is lower the shifter a bit and the false neutrals will disappear. Here is why all constant mesh transmissions have neutrals inbetween every gear, if they didn't you could index two gears at once and the transmission would explode. This fix will work like magic.

Get the suggestion a try H2!! It would be nice to not have to check the bike in!!!

When are you going to put a little bean oil in the 12 for that soothing aroma!!!

Maxima 927 is a synthetic blend of bean oil and sythetic 2 stroke oil. It smells great!!

Ted I believe part of H2's problem is he has a red one!

it ain't cause it's the faster red one. might be cause most my bikes are a 5 up shift pattern though. some things should have been left alone
